Apparently they want to touch a hot stove again.... I agree that it's a well established rest issue. FO landing currency requirements & costs are the cost of doing business at a global airline.

Captains Authority will never override fatigue and the individual FFD determination. Seems the company might be willing to bet that the FOs just suck it up and make it work...

Did you catch the Landing Currency video? Jeff Brown says that the company can lump all FOs together in one pairing with no delineation between bunkie and flying positions. He said that an IT limitation has prevented them from doing this, but its been solved. He insinuated (understatement) that they will do so without the TA. I dont know how that muddies the water?
Not directed at you AXL but Brown’s comment. I’m completely sick of “you have to see it from the company’s point of view” mentality and we’ll negotiate a little bit of coin to make the suffering easier. Enough of the company threats and what they can do to us. Negotiate a real contract or tell us the company doesn’t value our service. If you can’t do either, then for God’s sake resign.

Just the messenger.....

In other words the company is going to enact a massive change in status quo during negotiations, one which would make the TA less undesirable, and our union isn't going to do a damn thing about it. This almost seems like the same MEC that let management run over us with their purely PR stunt vax mandate while every other airline had a way out.

PS. How would they pick who to FBO without a flying FO?

I can assure you after some long commutes in and people are forced to start moving seats just prior to a trip and people planned on first break etc you gonna see some say ok I’m up front now and right before push say I’m fatigued and not ready to fly. When I hit fit for duty and it’s a double augmented crew I’m putting down fit for duty that I’m rested and ready to fly or prepared to show up a bit tired ready to go to bunk for sleep and be non fatigued to take over 7 hours later. If I get there thinking I’m going to bunk and suddenly find myself upfront for the next 7-8 hours the operation is coming to a screeching halt. And the first pushback is gonna set off phone calls to the FAA.

Can’t wait for one Capt to tell another Capt to suck it up and fly tired. That will be fun to watch.

Just wait til everyone shows up ready to take first break…or everyone shows up rested and ready to fly and pilots say they are fatigued e route due to not able to sleep and refuse to come back to the flightdeck. This will be fun to watch.
