Do you even know why blocking calendars was once frowned upon? There was once a time when it was good for the group and accountability. Do you remember the contract and the context? I’ll give you a hint, none of those reasons remain.

Oh ****! Am I accidentally on a SWA thread?! LOL welcome to WN! LOL

Blocking a board (calendar for y’all I guess) makes it hard to message a crew for commuter stuff—“hey I’m running for your flight” etc.

I could care less what you do on your days off or what city you’re laying over in. I’ve given my reasons why I think they should be open and it has nothing to do with Calrecs and the Wailing Wall. Very simple premise and now it’s page 5 with people alluding to pilots going nuclear, nefarious actions, and people getting their homes robbed when they aren’t there. Blocking your calendar also blocks schedule history.

Maybe just maybe, Mako is right.

SSC has access to everyone’s schedule, why do you need it?

Line pilots are the best investigators of contract compliance. They are the ones who alert the SSC to problems via the PDR system not to be confused with contract surveys and polling. 14,000 subject matter experts because they are incentivized by their own self-interests. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

I’ve never heard of that at United much less have had it happen to me. It’s a fine gesture though.

Do you really believe that there’s a legion of non-ALPA committee pilots who in their spare time audit other pilot’s schedules to ensure contract compliance?

If that’s the case, that’s just creepy AF and probably a good reason for everyone to block their calendars. At least in committee work there’s an implied, and in some cases an explicit, expectation of privacy and process for handling identifiable information.

Maybe the LECs should bump the membership to at least 10 members and throw in some FPL to keep up with demand?

Schedules are already open in the PBS bid award which can be exported to adobe and control f’d by name or employee number. So why the up roar over opening up calendars real time? We have so many independent contractors it’s no wonder we don’t get the contract we deserve. We can’t even agree on simple things.
