It was never added. It’s separate legislation. I had feared it was getting added to the debt ceiling bill but it wasn’t.

What I heard is that it was a 67 year old Congressman who was supposed to add it to the bill, but forgot to, and simultaneously lost his glasses and put his underwear on backwards.

That’s what I heard at least.

I don't think that's accurate. Ask Rep Nehls, the original author.

The vehicle to get Age 67 through was the reauthorization bill. There is no way in this universe it will advance a stand-alone bill. Age 67 is dead.

Some interesting names there; two who have been “here to help you” in CPOs/Flight Offices for almost all of their careers and another who has been deeply embedded at TK for most of his 34 years here. Not sure these “seagulls” have more than just a few years flying the line amongst the three of them and now they feel the need to “help the industry” with the pilot shortage. Absolutely laughable…..

Let's hope so.

That was the MAJOR argument for going from 60 to 65 in the US was that all the foreign carriers can do it, just not the US based ones.

Are you saying that foreign rules override US rules, and all US rules are just a lower subset of aviation? Just curious how that works.....
ICAO sets the international rules. ICAO says Age 65, then all member states have to abide. Ever notice how all airports worldwide have similar markings? You can thank ICAO for that.

The United States mandated 121 pilots had to retire upon reaching their 60th birthday. However, since ICAO rules were 65 years old, British Airways pilots could fly into US airspace unrestricted.

I wish that was the case, but I’m afraid it’s not. Got this email today. These people never sleep so neither can we.

If Age 67 was pulled from the original reauthorization bill introduced yesterday, meaning widespread support for the measure collapsed...an amendment is going to fail for the same reason Age 67 was pulled form the bill to begin with.

ICAO member states can take some, all, or none of ICAOs standards. It is just a framework. ICAO doesn't de facto dictate anything.

However, I am against 67. Harmful to me, harmful to the industry, and harmful to safety.
