Now on to the Senate Commerce Committee. FYI the plan was never as stand alone bills but always to be added to the FAA Re Authorization Bill. So it’s far from a done deal but probably at least 50/50 if not better odds. Also the senate co sponsor is Kelly AZ D (former Astronaut and Mnuchin also D).
Oh I’m surprised no one knows the the House Bill includes Retro language for all over 65 below 67 to return with full seniority. Will see if that survives. But my guess is that ALPA will do a 180 reversal (like last time and support Age 67) in return to remove the retro component to save face. Will see.

This is a republican controlled House Committee vote. 32-31 was the vote. Care to guess which side was the 31 opposed? Like I always say.... back the PAC and vote Democrat. Btw, this legislation still has to survive a full vote in the House and Senate to be attached to the FAA reauthorization bill. Check your email.... it takes 2 minutes to send the ALPA form letter opposing this bill.

Oh come on. The Boomers are out for themselves by pushing this, so why shouldn't I be out for myself by putting them on the bottom of the list? The scabs and self-serving pilots have had their day in the sun, now they can see what the current QOL is for junior pilots. It will be eye-opening and give the an appreciation for their ability to have held EWR 777 CA for 20 years
Secondly show me a pilot group that’s not self serving and I’ll show you the unicorn they rode in on.

Having said that, there’s no magic number- 60, 65, 67, or 89- that’s going to apply to all individuals equally. If there’s one where average decline is most pronounced, I’m sure I don’t know what it is. What I do know is 67 will do about as much to solve the pilot crisis as 65 did. What is it they say about trying the same methods & expecting different outcomes?

Their narrative portraying themselves as the white knights riding in to selflessly save the fair maiden (flying public) from delays and cancellations is enough to make anyone puke.

Has EASA/ICAO changed their tune? Is there a similar push happening overseas? I thought this was DOA unless we are going to have all the WB CAs vacate over to the top of the NB CA ranks and then be limited to domestic destinations. Unless they want to come to work for 2 years on the -700 doing day-trips with FLL and BOS turns from EWR...

Not trying to start a demographic battle but I’ve never hear a 30YO pushing for 67. It absolutely is being supported by older guys.

It's the timing of the change where the rub comes in. They(most pilots) would support eliminating it about a year before they would hit the current limit(whatever that may be).
