The solution to the present crisis, is to pay a fair wage. A wage that at a minimum will allow you to live where you are based, allow you to pay for the education and experience that is required to obtain your job. Enough to entice the next generation to enter this "profession".

Last time the age changed there was zero movement for 5 years. It bankrupted flight schools because nobody wanted to get a 4 year degree, then spend $60k+ on ratings to NOT have a job. The age change was a stop gap for the corporations and they did nothing to help themselves staff for the future, now they are reeling.

There is only a shade over 110,000 Commercial pilots working in the USA. Have some self worth, demand a better contract and a fair wage, the managers have to capitulate, it's a supply and demand problem. You don't need to try to make it any easier for them. Enjoy your retirement.

I do not oppose 67, but not here. There should be a new rule in the UPA. Retire at 65.
Pilots who want to fly beyond that should apply elsewhere.

Meanwhile, as Lindsay's bill languishes in 'not gonna happen in this Congress' land, we continue to see guys retire. Day by day. Week by week. Month by month. We're moving on up like the Jefferson's. And for that, I'm thankful to our political allies.

If by “older generation” screwing up the college system, you are referring to the ease in which student loans are given out and in turn the massive misuse of those loans that is the slimy, greedy money factory that the college system has become, I have to agree.

If you are referring to the useless non employable degrees programs and the leftist political indoctrination centers that are taking over the American university system I’d say not so much.

On second thought, the people who are indoctrinating and radicalizing the youth of today are older communists, socialist and misfits hiding out under the blanket of “higher” education. With that in mind I’ll have to agree with you that the older generation is indeed screwing up the college system.

By the way, I’m seeing zero evidence these bills (HR 1761 and S 863) have been killed. What’s everyone else seeing?

How about the fact that most people have to take out crippling amounts of debt just to get through college?

They’re not. In fact the delta get-off-my-lawn chit chat forumites are already double Dutch ruddering each other with shouts of “enjoy me in your seat, junior” because it made it to roll call vote in Committee.

The only immediate problem is people in the cusp of retirement not wanting to retire. It's like herpes all over again, but this time affecting everyone else's career progression.

Like most on here you have no idea what your taking about. Today the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee passed the Nahls amendment to add the house Age 67 Bill to the FAA Re Authorization Bill.

Now on to the Senate Commerce Committee. FYI the plan was never as stand alone bills but always to be added to the FAA Re Authorization Bill. So it’s far from a done deal but probably at least 50/50 if not better odds. Also the senate co sponsor is Kelly AZ D (former Astronaut and Mnuchin also D).

Oh I’m surprised no one knows the the House Bill includes Retro language for all over 65 below 67 to return with full seniority. Will see if that survives. But my guess is that ALPA will do a 180 reversal (like last time and support Age 67) in return to remove the retro component to save face. Will see.
