With respect to the min calendar day, I have also interpreted it to mean during a trip.
Here's how I think the math works, based on a trip of the following credit:
Day 1: 7.5 hours
Day 2: 6.5 hours
Day 3: Standover Day
Day 4: 6 hours
Current Book: This trip pays 20 hours. We have a 5 hour average credit per day, average being the operative word. It's not coincidental the other 3 days on a 4 day almost always work out to about 20 hours. That way the day off is free to them.
New Book: This trip would pay 21 hours with the 5:15 average credit per day, except that it has a Standover day which now takes on a value of 2:30, making the actual trip credit 22:30 (20 credit for days 1,2, and 4 plus 2:30 for day 3).
The whole notion of an average credit per day is asinine and I'm disappointed we couldn't get rid of that. It's not how it works at many other airlines. If you're away at work, a day should have a minimum value, independent of other days.
This is a good step towards paying us what we are worth, and sets the stage for future improvements. It was shocking coming here from my regional which had a hard 4:12 min day. Show up at work, get paid no less than 4:12. The above trip would pay 24:12 at my old regional.

Your example on how it works is correct. I would point out that you need both average day and min day, not one or the other. That is a huge gain, actually. People often assume the same trip construction, but of course it would change to their advantage (and pilots’ disadvantage) with only a min day, and you’d hate it - especially if you like 30 hour layovers. With both, you get the best of both - trips get better and pay better.
You are also going to love the 10 hour duty period 1:1 rig. You will either have shorter days, or get paid a lot. Those 13 hour days paying an extra 3:00 of pay above all other pay sure softens that blow. And if they simply eliminate 10+ hour days to avoid paying you, so much the better.

They’ve hired about 5,000 pilots from 2021, and the last year or so they’ve hired a crap ton of mid 20 year olds. You will be junior for a long time and for ever a reserve Captain if you take the first available upgrade.
United beats Southwest and other than keeping global reserve this TA looks good, but I hope you understand your seniority situation and furlough possibility compared to Southwest…

Outsider looking in. Congratulations on your AIP.
Any info or updates regarding improvements to schedule flexibility/trip dropping? I saw "Improved Reserve Pool Management - delineation of silos to improve trip trading/dropping abilities".
From reading here in multiple threads it seemed like the company could arbitrarily set the grid to whatever they wanted, making straight dropping or swapping quite difficult, even with sufficient reserve coverage. Any thoughts if that has been improved?
