yes, absolutely you can, but unless it’s attitude related, and you made it through FO training, you would more than likely just be sent back to the right seat.

100%.
I would rather sit in the right seat for a 500 hour wonder that came from an RJ and spent those 500 hours flying in the United system than sit in the right seat for someone who hasn’t seen a domestic leg or stayed awake for an entire flight in 15 years. I have flown with both and I would pick the newbie every single time.
i haven’t needed/cared about bidding freezes, would a WBFO that goes NBFO not be able to upgrade for two years?

I have already more than 1000 121 PIC, but I can feel "it" eroding. Every month the phone doesn't ring I get a little dumberer, and when it DOES ring, it's another mind numbing Transcon or fluffy pillows to Frankfurt.
WBFO to NBFO does NOT incur a two year seat lock for initial (or any I think) upgrade. I could leave the WB for a NB, see the airplane and the system, and then upgrade. Or I could just do the long course, follow the FOM/FM and proceed cautiously.

Thank you...and also to M.Of. P. who's comments didn't make it into this multi-quote... as soon as the vacancy bids come back online, I'll put in an upgrade bid. Or at least right after Little League.

Unless you want to wait a year, your only option on the next vacancy would be to bid a CA category.

You claimed in your post your reservation about upgrading is that you haven’t been at United long enough to see the operation……All dark side and I are saying is that you don’t see the true operation from the PANDA seat on a WB. Doesn’t mean you can’t/wont succeed as a United CA, your logic is simply flawed.

I feel like you took my quote as an insult……I flew the 787 for 8 years and upgraded into the 756 from 787 FO.

You guys were very helpful and I'm grateful.

Considering applying to UA as EWR is within driving distance from where I live. 12k TT, over 4000pic in the 737, LCA, and have operated N, C, and S America as well as all over Europe (Crossings included). What are the odds of being offered 737CA in initial?

I have said it before and will say it again: why on allahs green earth would I give up making 300k a year flying 8 or 9 days a month sleeping half the time laying over in HKG or SYD to go fly 13 or 14 days a month, 2-3 legs a day laying over in ICT or any city in FL to make 340k a year?

Depends on the drop. You are not offered CA, you bid on what's available. If your seniority can hold it, it's yours.
