Whatever you get indoc is yours unless they run another displacement.. so let’s say you got 756 EWR .. but due this 777 EWR displacement bid they end up in excess of 756 EWR FOs.. they could then run another displacement for that category which could mean you getting displaced.

this is the reason why displacements are very expensive for the company .. it results in multiple training cycles

technically correct, you could see a follow on displacement. However, if it’s a new hire category I’m sure they’d just let attrition handle the overages.

As a sfo777 recipient of some great flying, i haven’t paid attention of other domiciles, but is Ewr losing flying or this is just a readjustment of existing flying to 787s and 756? I thought a vacancy was coming first??? That, then displacement bid if necessary? Or straight to the bump bid?

Just an edumacated guess, but based on monthly published flight hours I think EWR 777 CAs are at a level that can be supported by current flying. Clearly this is not true of the EWR 777 FO ranks, but I'm not aware of any other BES that has a similar situation. Is anyone else aware of other BES that are potential displacement candidates.

Also, just thinking out loud, but a EWR 777 FO can displace to 737 CA or A320 CA. That never happened in previous displacements during my career. I'll be interested to see if any 777 FOs take that path instead of displacing to NB FO.

Ah well so much for wishful thinking. I saw the CCS NPDM announcing pending displacements in EWR 777 CAs and FOs. Guess we'll see on 10/25 just how many . . . ah it was fun while it lasted.

Will guess 25 capt and 150 plus F/O's. UAL stocked up on 777 pilots expecting to use Russian airspace after Covid. HKG, PEK, PVG, DEL and BOM used that airspace. Looks like the company gave up on waiting.

Had a captain say any BES that does Ws are a candidate given enough time. So 787 ORD could 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Displacements at larger multi fleet airlines are very expensive when the airline is shrinking. When however an airline is in a growth mode they have a vastly smaller impact. This is especially true when it’s a shift in flying rather than a reduction.
