At CA upgrade class a few weeks ago the TK big wig told us that there were 600ish in the pool and they are currently interviewing but only for Aviate and MPP (military pilot program). A class of 50+ started on 1/7 and another 50+ on 1/18. Current classes are predominantly Mil and LCC. Future classes are fluid and the determing factor is aircraft deliveries plain and simple. Airbus just told us the 321XLRs that were supposed to start arriving in Jan 26 are pushed back to late spring 26. Thats all I remember. Good luck and be patient we're back to a more 'normal' hiring enviroment now.

And when they realize that the 600ish in our pool are the same 600ish in DL's pool who are the same 600ish in AA's pool, they will realize the pool isn't as full as they think.

I would suspect real interviewing will start back up again pretty quickly. And we will prob hire more than they think as we will have some folks start here that live in ATL or DFW that will leave when their other CJO generates a class date and we will have folks leave DL and AA for UA that live in DEN or SFO or?? when UA calls.

There are a high number of experienced 121 CAs at LCCs looking to change jobs, which is very unusual. As that pool of folks is gobbled up by the legacies, we will be back to interviewing and hiring regional Captains and LCC FO's before too long. It will seem like too long if you are one of those folks, but it will still be way less time in those positions than "normal."

I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm also one of those highly experienced ULCC captains trying hard to get out, United being my first choice.

You really think they're going to hire (U)LCC FOs without TPIC?

I'm not so sure, and a ton of ULCC FOs have a fat 0 TPIC. But i also agree that what's going on now is temporary. The well of TPIC (to the level that the ULCC CAs have) is not very deep.. Most of the experience left in 2021-2023. That's why they were hiring low time pilots.. There was nothing else.

Since the slowdown a year ago, sure, it's filled back up.. a little. Not sure how much though. Competitive mins will be hard to predict I think.

Depends on the adequacy of the CA numbers in the regional feed too. If hiring picks up to the point the regional feed has to start parking AC again because the regional FOs don't upgrade because they have insufficient 121 hours, insufficient motivation, or simply want to avoid training failures in the hope that things will get back to legacies hiring regional FOs with no TPIC again, ULCC FOs without TPIC may become a hot commodity. After all, no legacy really wants to cannibalize their own regional feed.

It all depends on the aircraft cockpit seats the legacies have to fill. And right now that's an Airbus/Boeing issue.

Question regarding the hiring at United now. I have 3900 hours TT , 1000 TPIC 121 , 2200 flying the ERJ 175 at the regionals as a Captain and FO and now flying as a FO on the 777 cargo 121 about 160 hours. 0 checkride failures, ALPA volunteer and CFI/II. What are the chances of getting an interview as I’ve heard hiring has changed a lot since the Covid wave. Any guidance and advice is greatly appreciated.
