Taken from a Facebook group. It's obviously hard to confirm if it's accuracte. Let's hope those awaiting class dates etc. receive an update soon.

"Heads up: Just got off the phone with United training department. Contrary to the doom and gloom, they’re not freezing hiring… they’re getting ready to move a lot of people through the backlog of CJOs.
Word is, things are about to pick up significantly over the next month or two."

The vacancy input screen is open which means they are tinkering with numbers and could soon hold another vacancy (they have done this before and then no vacancy). I’d be surprised if there is one based of the last one we just had. So it could be possible you’re right. Ryan air believes max 10 certified by year end , though United recently said 2026/2027 so who knows. Can point to movement.

There were 630 unfilled vacancies on the last 2 bids, which is more than enough for this summer's new hire classes. I don't think this is because of the MAX 10.

Another possibility is that we have been getting 787s delivered, but all the 787 bids were to replace retirements. This could be to staff all the newly announced WB flying. Could also just be increasing utilization of existing planes or some deliveries being moved up. Also getting some JFK gates could require more staffing.

Either way its good news.

According to management from this week’s fleet stand down the plan is for November 200 new hires and the same amount for December. They are looking to hire double in 2026 compared to 2025.

Buddy in charm school said that they are planning to hire 2000 in 2026. That would jive with what’s being circulated rn

Nov: 30

TOTAL: 956

Only 1 class/mo scheduled from May-November.

Also, “The BI classes in May through September will be re-evaluated in upcoming months and may eventually be canceled if demand for new hires decreases further.”
This was the "estimate" in November. Here's what it looks like now with rough actual hires and projections.

January: 96
Feb: 218
Mar: 209
Apr: 201 (They added a class of 50 that wasn't on the original schedule)
May: 29
June: 30
July: 30
August: 21
Sep: 24
Oct: 30
Nov: 30 (now 200)
Dec: 88 (now 200)

TOTAL: 956 (now 1,288)

300+ more pilots than were planned just a few months ago. 2026 goal is 2X 2025 so 2,500+ pilots, which makes sense with all the deliveries coming next year.
