it was a 757…but I digress. 😂😂
This pilot should be racked for her actions. She should be forced to write a public apology to not only the crew on that flight but to the entirety of Southwest Airlines and should be banned from jumpseating on them for a lengthy period of time.

This falls under a whole different category of extremely poor judgment that requires a whole lot more than simply mentoring.
... from what I've read this was about flap speeds. Either extension or retraction. Either under or overspeed.
I personally will be cautious about taking any United pilots who are female halfwingers in/out of SAN.
My apologies to all of the good people at LUV; I've gotten many rides from you guys over the years.

This wouldn't have been on my list of things to mentor a newhire about. ... 'Make sure you don't excessively elevate an issue you saw while jumpseating...'

oh good I guess those two Alaska dudes that I give rides too from HNL every week to LAX can just stay there……good luck getting too work fellas
It’s great how something happens that is so egregious that a pilot goes straight to the FAA yet that pilot is the enemy……I somehow don’t think this pilot went to the FAA over some missed callouts. So let’s get more of the story before we start closing cockpit doors.

If you fly 121 long enough you will screw up at some point, more than once, I just hope you don't do it with a Jumpseater onboard who will turn you in to the FAA. Just sayin.

So in summary nobody knows or is willing to say what the crew actually did, and nobody knows or is willing to say what the JS did? Cool.
Are we talking about submitting an ASAP after the crew the JS is very clearly a part of, did something dangerous? Or did this half winger call Michael Whitaker’s private line to report that the pilots finished up a personal conversation at 9,990 feet? Seems like we’d want to wait for some facts before firing up the ol torch and pitchfork.
Here’s a question with answering too. How much mentorship are new hires getting in jumpseat etiquette and dos or don’ts? I can tell you I’ve had exactly zero conversations about that. Some talks about policy , but never etiquette. If there’s been 5,000+ new hires don’t be shocked if that person dead last in experience /judgement/js etiquette does something weird. If you don’t train or mentor the new pilots right how can you expect them to act right?
