This was my point to begin with. more aircraft at the highest payscale. This translates to more opportunities to be at the highest pay scale. United appears to staff approx 24 pilots per 777/787. with 57 more planes in the top scale, that means about 1300 more pilots at the top payscale. (leaving out the 767-400 for simplicty.)

Delta uses a 4 man crew with two Captains on flights over 12 hours. They go to a 3-man crew on flights over 8. Weirdly the company never pressured DALPA to agree to the FAR117 rules.

I'm curious how the numbers compare between more WB'sat UAL vs 2 CA's on flights over 12 hours at DAL.
UAL the 777/787 has 1479 CA's & 2693 FO's
(Based off the min-max bulliten for the vacancy bid in early FEB, I'm not sure if that includes pilots on LTD)
