Between payback days/rolling thunder on every fleet, green slips being fairly distributed (UA eats their young regarding premium), and having 2 captain on 4-mans; you can keep the 50 more WB’s
Edit: With addition of global scope in 23’ I expect the WB gap to close over the next handful of years. Delta will be forced to grow 1:1 WB’s as all JV’s introduce more flying. The addition of this scope was a huge win that will bring more & more JV flying back to DL pilots

Contracts, brands, fleets, pilot groups, ebb and flow; especially when the future in this industry is 40 years for many pilots. Will UA continue to have the (marginally) largest WB fleet in 2040+ or will that go to DL, AA, or will we all be flying for one big monopolized carrier? What I know is that you have absolutely no idea.
Therefore, I very much confidently disagree with you.

Yes, because UA will always have the most WB’s just like they have had since the dawn of the airline world and will grow to be 30,000 pilots by 2030 doing Boom Jet turns by the day.. /s

And yet you seem confident about DAL growing the WB fleet at a 1:1 ratio because the scope is so great, yada yada. Interesting that you are willing to proclaim that your company will do great and scoff at the notion that other companies could do better, while simultaneously scoffing at someone else expressing an opinion that our company will do better than yours. I’m glad to see that logic doesn’t cut both ways.

His initial statement was blunt and useless to any discussion. I also never expressed such confidence in the future; just what I -expected- in my personal opinion. In my quote above I mentioned AA being largest WB or UA in future (logic cutting both ways).
But good for you that your glad about something..

It's been 16 years since those orders were first placed and the company has expressed almost zero interest in actually getting those aircraft on property. But you know what they say... predictions are hard, especially about the future.
