Although the "market forces" of ALL the aforementioned aren't quite the same really.
4 were pre 9/11 attempts to take on the LCC market, 2 were post.

There is nothing wrong with a CEO defending their company and stock price, but if the author had any shred of journalistic credibility or a reader has a shred of media literacy the article should have been written with a far more skeptical tone instead of burying the lede in the last line of the article.

CASM is only one half of the profitability equation. You need the RASM part too.
So what if Frontier’s costs are lower than United’s? They still aren't charging enough to cover those costs while United DAL AA (sort of) SWA is. Spirit certainly hasn’t been.

Frontier competes with United to the extent that Denny's competes with Cheesecake Factory.

There's not a good distinction between ULCC international and Network International
Intercontinental, maybe? Dallas to Monterrey and Newark to Tokyo are not the same.

They aren't even a competitor in most revenue categories. Frontier provides one product, Basic Economy, and only domestically. United has a ton of International revenue as well as first, business, economy plus etc domestically.

wait…. I love Denny’s….. is that bad?

Too funny analogy though!

Can easily get a more healthy/nutrient dense meal there than the last time I ate at CF, which is, I can’t even remember when….

Why did the "journalist" wait until the last line of the article to point out that Frontier is losing money? A better headline would be "CEO of the airline that lost $70M last quarter is telling the CEO of the airline that made $1 billion last quarter that he's wrong", but I guess accuracy isn't important in these puff piece, click bait articles.

However something I noticed …..a Cheesecake factory is almost always located within a shopping mall or part of a large outlet center what in the northeast we call an outdoor mall.
Where as a Denny’s is almost always located on a state highway (white and black square) in a lower middle class suburb with traffic on the side that’s commuter heavy in the morning. With its own stand alone parking lot with signs saying “Dennys only, all others will be towed”
Seeing the direction of those two trends in our society, Friendly I might say United is the Dennys and Frontier are the Cheesecakes.
