A real delta pilot would learn the language so they could deliver the speech without the help of google.

I believe they have Flight Attendants for that. Which maybe is great way to remind people again to keep it short and sweet, so that the poor person translating for you doesn’t have too much to remember and translate as they are simultaneously being yelled at by passengers they there is no space for 5 bags.

please post this.
It doesn't, nobody and I mean nobody is picking an airline based on what some douchebag pilot does with the PA, if anything people will avoid that places that have the constant nagging on pa, like AA and their credit card nonsense and southwest and their "fun and folksy" pa's.

If PAs aren’t your thing, don’t do them. Sounds like you’d do more harm than good. But just because you don’t think it would make a difference, doesn’t mean it doesn’t.

One thing I have learned through the years is:
* Flight Attendants hate a pilot in their galley
* Gate agents hate pilots making PAs from the podium.
Pro tip: You don’t need a mask whilst standing at a podium.

I make it a point to wear my jacket; the hat alone never conveys the proper standard of a captain. The full uniform sets the tone — a sense of dignity and assurance — as I walk through the First Class cabin, personally greeting each passenger and inquiring whether they have any questions before we depart.

While at a kids game the other day one of the other parents was talking to me. Hes a high income earner, frequent traveler, and from what I can tell a mainstream type of guy.
He asked me “what ever happened to the little bio? You know, when the captain says that up front are two navy veterans with 80 combat sorties between us and 200 carrier landings etc etc.”
To me, those have always been the most cringe inducing pa moments. Even better when they introduce themselves as Jester and 8 ball.
Moral of the story- it’s not about us. I’m always surprised by what the flying public feels brings value to their experience and an airline. It’s 2025, the airlines have more than enough data on what the customer likes and doesn’t like. With this said, speak to the majority. Just because 6 out of 225 would love to hear me play the guitar (Southwest) there is zero chance that’s ever happening.
