They’d have committed suicide if they’d gone through the lost decade.
Oh yes, you had to walk uphill both ways in the snow. Nobody had it as hard as you.

I don’t know why the jealous old timers or the youngsters who choose to upgrade, think it’s such a great deal. These young captains are going to be working weekends flying redeyes or on reserve for 10 years. I’m mid seniority in the company and I keep holding off on the upgrade until I’d have a reasonable quality of life.

They might still… upgrades were short before the lost decade too.

With that user name are you retired mil with pension currently? Some of us hit (got hit by more accurately) the lost decade or have reason to make hay while the sun shines with retirement savings or other life costs. I’m envious of the pilots who bid min schedule and drop what they can but that ain’t everybody.

the red eyes depend on the base. If you’re East Coast there’s not that many, and there are enough people that want to fly them for commuting/personal reasons. You really don’t need to fly redeyes as a junior lineholder at all.

Now reserve and weekends. Yeah.

As expected, the snapshot has gone more senior. Most junior NBCA is a 139xx number, which is a 2022 hire I believe. Approx 75 pct system seniority...

I'm amazed at how many FOs I know that I see their names on the bid and they tell me they didn't really want to upgrade right now but they are told this is the last bid until next fall so they want to get in their seats just in case hiring stops.

A lot of FOMO on this bid. The next few should settle things down a bit.
