UAL?CAL seniority integration

The adage "if CAL had UAL workrules they'd need another 1,000 pilots instantly" I hope comes true in the next contract and they have to hire all the furloughs back in one fell swoop. If we get CAL's workrules in the JCBA it will be a very grim day for all of us, furloughed or not.

If you think that your new management team has any concern or loyalty for any pilot, furloughed or not, or that the CAL union has any ability to affect the outcome of the company's staffing decisions, you will soon find out otherwise. CAL is understaffed and always has been.

Seriously, hope we ALL end up in a better place once this finishes up-

SLI aside, it will help if you think of it this way. The management team at CAL has always seen pilots in just one of two categories: hostaged or not hostaged. They had 147 hostages here, now they've got 1500 there. They cynically use them for leverage. SLI or not, the sooner we get all the hostages back the better!

Given, the spike in fuel prices and the recently announced capacity cuts, my guess is that contract negotiations are on hold and any TA is many months away, maybe even into 2012.
No TA equals no SLI. But with SOC coming in October we will look more like USAirways, with two separate pilot groups with two separate contracts. Separate and unequal.

Please explain why you believe contract negotiations would be on hold and how that relates to fuel prices and capacity cuts?

Exactly, so no need to worry aout the SLI anytime soon. Who knows when there will be a contract, we may see more furloughs before anything else.

Yes, this my understanding, as well.
