Keep hearing the rumblings of a MAY system bid for CAL with 200 + vacancies on it. The reason is that the 787 will be on property
by May of next year. This bid is supposed to allow for the staffing of the 787 they cancelled on the last bid. Anyone else hear this or care to chime in? I'm sure it on the crack-pipe but I just can't give MB my money anymore for the repeated drivel over there to go and check.

They can have all the vacancies they want. Doesnt mean they will fill them.
Cal will operate short thru this summer and reduce schedule along with ual after labor day. So, the abovemight have vacancies, but 0 and i mean 0 furlough recalls this year by ual or cal

Not that he is in the know, but I just flew with a houston assistant chief. He said bid in May to staff 787. He said we are short for the summer but will be overstaffed by a couple hundred this fall with the cutbacks. We'll see....

I suspect my definition of "overstaffed" varies greatly from how the company defines it. Until that particular pendulum swings more toward me being able to trip trade without the infamous "min staffing" message, or PBS behaving more in a user friendly fashion......it's a no vote.
Makes you wonder.

Interesting, we are being told that United is trimming the schedule due to high fuel costs. For some fleets and seats, if you are sitting 50% or less, you are being forced into a 70 hour line. Some of these folks are wondering how they are going to pay the mortgage. The CAL side however, appears to continue line construction at or near max hours with very little schedule reduction.

I know it's not easy being furloughed and $75k would be a huge help to many. Trust me, I'm sick of the bleeding on the part of our pilot group. The main point of my post is that it appears we are bearing a disproportionate brunt of the cutbacks. I don't think they are done with us yet.
