Don't know when/if UA will recall and your coming over at 12 year pay might be worthwhile. Some left because they had something that looked greener and didn't work out.

As I understand it, some senior people who took the voluntary furlough had jobs lined up that didn't work out for one reason or another. Some took desk jobs and are just anxious to fly again. Because they took a voluntary furlough vs. taking a LOA, they can't come back to the UAL side until UAL recalls.

FWIW

Can a furloughee accept the job offer but then go on a leave of absense(Mil, personal, etc)? I'm not sure it is allowed or would gain you anything.

This thread is depressing to me. I'm sorry you guys have to go through this. I've never been furloughed and can't even imagine the heartache it causes.

As I understand it, there is nothing to prevent a furlough (voluntary or otherwise) from taking the CAL offer and then leaving CAL for UAL should a recall happen prior to seniority integration. I also haven't read anything that would prevent a furlough from taking the CAL job and later quitting if they dont like it. In this scenario they would still have their UAL number.

My bad. I thought if you were on a voluntary furlough from UAL, you could go back whenever you wanted if you were more senior than the junior man at a domicile. I only worked at UAL for a few years and it was 10 years ago, so my memory of the rules is hazy at best.

Day 3 and still no calls. I think the 8 Guam slots is creating all kinds of problems. Hopefully calls will go out tomorrow. Nov. 99 and hoping to get a call.

No matter what the hold up is?? There are many speculators..I believe they should just follow the transition agreement to the letter. Bypass..you have to wait AT LEAST 30 DAYS TO be considered again. If I get called for GUM, I will have to consider it. Although IAH would work better for the family unit. (Nov 99 hire) I will post if I hear..
