Anybody get a call today?

How? Can I get recalled and furloughed again? I doubt it with the current forcast of pilots retiring and demand increasing. No matter what happens with the economy, I think the bad times are behind us. SpecialTracking, do you care to elaborate?

The company says to the senior guys, "If you relax scope MORE, we'll give you snap back, and increases in pay in this next 8-10 year CBA. Now you can retire with a little extra cash. AND... we (the company) can now backfill all the domestic flying with RJs, and international with cabotage as you guys retire"!!!!
That's How!!!

I don't think that is feasable. The last few companies that tried that went out of business. You have to feed your own international trips or else the "feeder" will start flying international and you will go the way of Eastern and Pan Am.

Lastly, I'd like to wager the bypass ratio on the recall will be 3-1 if they work out GUM issues. Much higher, 6-1 if they don't...any takers? Pick it apart and educate us all![/QUOTE]
Not for starters, the first 209 guys on the furlough list left for greener pastures from UAL already. Some out of Captain, widebody seats, anyhow they werent JR FO's for UA when they volunteered and I dont see many jumping into CAL reserve system unless they are unemployed. After the first 209 you may see 3-1 or 4-1. Thats what it was after our first furlough.

And if THAT isn't "feasible", the situations you mention is how it could get worse....
"how bad could it get if we let the company fly "little" 50 seaters?"
Not picking on you, but it ALWAYS could get worse.
I unfortunately (fortunately?) have been re-reading Flying the Line I and II, and it is UNCANNY how we haven't learned from the past....
Sorry for the rant.

I believe, but could be wrong, there were only 160 or so of us senior vol furloughs. Having said that, your point is probably accurate regarding the bypass rate. I'll be in the "thanks, but no thanks" category when the letter arrives.
I'd say given the wide demographic, the average bypass will be in the 4 to 5:1 area which means around 800 to 1000 to fill 200. That's good new for those that want/need the job towards the bottom of the furlough list. Personally, I hope everyone that wants a CAL job gets it.

I hope you are right. Im in the hell yes my current job sucks category, the 209 number came from Todd C about a week ago. There were probably more guys leaving after the initial offering until the furlough was complete. I'm about 345 in the stack so hopefully it will come sooner rather than later.

I didn't query him about the actual of numbers of folks above the actual furlough line.
I hope you get the chance to take a position. I see the potential to run through quite a number on the top of the list that are satisfied where they are at whether that be active duty or elsewhere. Time will tell.
Best of luck, and if my declining helps, you're welcome.
