Back up a sec. Missing something here. What did we get to do or not get to do to display unity? ALPA pins..got em and wearing them. Voting on ALPA issues...did it for every vote. Marching and picketing with ALPA union brothers and sisters.....did it. Email our reps with contract like and dislikes....did it. Stay up to date on negotiations and ALPA issues affecting both groups....doing it.

Sorry, I missed the CHAOS strike, the withdrawal of service day, and the intentional slowdown that was posted in the ALPA blastmail last month. Did you get to go?

You guys are going to sleep better when you realize cal would not even have joined alpa if they were not concerned with a merger and how senioriy would work out. No point in getting all worked up over all of it just watch your back.

So you didn't get profit sharing or you did? Oh, that's right, you wanted a windfall of a nice payraise in perpetuity, while we got ONE small CHECK for busting our rear ends (before the SOC to boot)! Nice! I seriously think you guys need to get over this "80's we're better than you so we deserve more than you" mentality. So far the CAL guys are NOT one bit impressed with this "we at UAL are the greatest" crap. You need to move into this century and quit acting like you're "bad guys" stuff. While you're so focused on the little stuff, you're losing the war (ie., scope). How smart is that? I'll bet that taught your 1400+ furloughed guys a lesson, didn't it? (Another war we just lost thanks to UAL, was getting another sim day added to our recurrent, during our DAYS OFF for almost NO pay! Sweet.........).
As for the PS'ing, I guess giving management $40 MILLION more in bonuses would have taught the CAL pilots a good lesson, then again, management would have loved the UAL pilots even more for teaching us that lesson while they trucked the money to their banks! But I will tell you one thing right now, the "unity" UAL espouses isn't going over well at CAL as it seems it's more like "shooting yourself in the foot". You guys are full of great ideas.............unfortunately, they seem to hurt the pilots a heck of a lot more than helping them. -10 AGAIN.............

You didn't give them a show of unity by donating your profit sharing check towards management bonuses! THAT'S WHAT THEY WANTED! Of course, they TELL you they wanted you to get PS, BUT......................... (there's that darn BUT that always seems to flare up)...............

CAL joined ALPA back in 2001. The XJT pilots, at the time they were Continental Express, swung that vote in favor of ALPA coming on property. At the time both groups were under the same MEC of the IACP. It would be interesting to see if the the CAL pilots alone would have voted to bring ALPA on property.

Of course the pilots new back then that there was going to be a merger with UAL in 2010

Gordon Bethune was actually partially responsible for that vote back in 2001. He told many a CAL pilot that they needed to think about bringing ALPA back on property as he did see industry consolidation down the road. Heck, one infamous super bowl Sunday in 1998(?) brought CAL extremely close to being merged with Delta. That wouldn't have been pretty with the IACP vs. DALPA. The Continental Express pilots were blamed for bringing ALPA back on property by a big faction of CAL pilots who were against it. Shortly thereafter, the MEC was split and Continental Express was spun off as Expressjet and the rest is history. Yes, the Continental Express pilots(the majority of which are now FO's at CAL) played a huge role in ALPA returning to the CAL property.

What are the CAL pilots going to do next year when we still don’t have a JCBA and the CAL pilots start again with the PS issue? It still isn’t in the CAL contract.

As far as operating separate subsidiaries without a JCBA, UAL will burn their side down quicker than the CAL side can build up to replace. That would be a very unwise strategy even for this management.
Question back on you. What has/ is mighty UA doing so far in this merger to strike into mgt. Not a dxxx thing! Talk a big game, but where are the results. What have UA done to build unity amongst the pilot group? Attack then expect CAL pilots to take it....keep that up and that certainly lead to burning the place down, except it will be our house.
