The 100% staffing numbers on the practice bid were all based on the MIN number of pilots listed for each BES.

Based on the info from the bid, ACTIVE minus MIN = 165 vacancies. If any of the BES categories are left staffed at numbers above MIN required, that total number would increase above 165. That does not appear to be happening, and the 165 number looks like a pretty safe bet.

Texan,

You may be correct, but watching the last two bids, I don't think so.

The vacancy bid lists a decrease in the MIN number of 737 pilots required in IAH/NYC/CLE (likely for the DEN/ORD shift in 737 flying). Unless the company staffs to the current/MAX number in those 3 737 bases it will not be 243.

If they staff to the MIN level as they did on the practice bid, the number would be 165.

But results on15th should show final vacancies?

Lots speculation as list gets closer to UAL 07/08 hires the bypass might go even higher as well.

Yes... Keep in mind this bid is for the whole year, and another bid should be out around July that could increase this number.

The further they go down the list, the lower the pay pilots will be coming back to. Many of the 07/08 pilots I have talked to now have incomes well above 1st year CAL/UAL pay rates and will wait.

The fact that any UAL/CAL pilot should have to live on our absolutely embarrassing ALPA 1st year pay rates twice (let alone once) is totally WRONG.

First '05 hire missed IAH737CA by 34 numbers on the snapsnot.

184 numbers from EWR737CA

About 190 from ORD737CA

Can hold GUM737CA and any FO position (737/756/777/787) in any base.

Thanks,

for the record I don't fly at either CAL or UAL. Buddy of mine was hired in that timeframe and I was curious where they stood with upgrade. No, a '05 hire isn't a new hire, I meant newhire back then.

We are up to Furlough update #18
From the UAL MEC Update this week:

CAL Job Offers For United Furloughees

The following is from MEC Furlough Coordinator ........

On March 6, 2012, the twelfth new hire class at Continental began. The class of 20 brought the total number of United furloughees hired at CAL under the terms of the merger T&PA to 171. There are four more classes of 20 scheduled to begin this spring, the last currently scheduled for a May 1 start date (which was just added this week). 1,161 job offers have been made thus far, including the 93 job offers mailed this week to fill the May 1 class. The most junior pilot to receive an employment offer at CAL has a Feb. 4, 2001 Date of Hire, seniority number 7395.

The misnomer of “recall” continues to be used by far too many pilots when referring to these job opportunities at CAL. It must be clearly stated that these are job opportunities, NOT recalls. Accepting or bypassing a job offer at CAL under the terms of this agreement does not pose any impact on a furloughed United pilot’s recall rights or seniority at United or on the combined list. We will not consider a pilot recalled to United Airlines until they are flying a S-UAL aircraft, or they have taken their rightful place on the integrated seniority list.

Even though this agreement has returned 171 of our furloughed pilots to work for United Continental Holdings so far, the irony that they are flying the same type of aircraft at Continental that were parked by United to facilitate this merger and caused their furlough in the first place is not lost on them, the furloughed pilot group or the UAL MEC. We continue to press for the return of our furloughed pilots to the flight decks of United aircraft as soon as possible.

Thank for that, but according to it like 250 people plannedto be taken to the LCAL side. Thought the last bid was 178 vacancies, so why they need 250?

I emailed T.C., and as of March 06, he said I was #327 waiting for an offer (and there were about 45 "junior" to me last i looked)?
