4 round trips a year? That would last me a few months. Why don't they get something like 8-10 round trips a year. That would be more fair.
And whoever made the entitlement comment, I think it is ridiculous that you feel that you are entitled to higher pass benefits than someone who has given 25+ years of service.
BTW I am still an active pilot. I just plan on retiring someday.

as LONG as managment didn't get priority boarding as they did at Continental?? Then I think the whole thing is fair. We'll getwhat we Get and Nothing more. And as far as commuting? You choose to live where you live, If you're got to jump through HOOPS to get to work then that's YOUR PROBLEM! That haso ta doggone thing to do with the pass requirements. Put on a Uniform and Jumpseat! That! everybody else Can't do.
Dude,
As far as choosing to live where you work it's not that simple. First, for years there has been ZERO seat movement at this airline as a result of age 65 and the parking of the guppies. So, a whole mess of guys got bumped and have been stuck in their present location. Guys with houses, kids, spouses with jobs etc. So, it ain't as simple as you think. Since hired I've been shoved around to 4 domiciles and only avoided a fifth by delaying my return from furlough.
Second, a uniform is not required to jumpseat.
Third, if you'd like to be able to jumpseat, go get an ATP, spend a few years building time while making less than $30K (or flying in Afghanistan) and then try to get an airline job. It's just that simple. UAL interviews something like 25 dudes for every one they hire. Till then you are free to hang out on the Maint guys forum and spread your acumen with guys who may share your viewpoint because most of us do not. I would just about guarantee that no pilot is hanging out there pontificating with exclamation points about all things under the sun WRT to wrenching on airplanes.
We take enough crap from management, our passengers, and DEN gate agents. We don't need any lecturing from you.
Thanks and have a swell day!!!

I'm still trying to make sense of the new system. I'm listed as a SA9 now, whereas I used to be listed as a SA3. The only thing I saw in the guide posted by the company is that SA9W's, fee waived employee domestic travel, is the lowest boarding priority. I guess I still don't understand the hierarchy.

True Story:
I was standing by for a flight to Honolulu about 6 mos. ago.
(I am a 25+ UAL retiree)
And into the gate area walks Jerry L. Now Jerry is the most senior active employee in both CAL and UAL.
So Jerry comes over and starts talking to me and tells me he’s going to Honolulu as well.
Sitting not to distant is a nice lady who overhears our conversation, turns out she’s also an employee with 8 mos. seniority. But she wants to meet Jerry because he’s somewhat of a celebrity.
The nice lady is traveling with what appears to be the 3rd Battalion 8th Marines.
That day on that flight I got on the airplane ahead of Jerry.
The order of boarding was:
1. Me
2. Jerry
3. Nice Lady and 3/8.
Should I have got on that flight ahead of Jerry? No way in h---.
Today the order of boarding would be:
1. Jerry
2. Nice Lady and 3/8.
3. Me
Should I get on that flight after the Nice Lady and 3/8? No way in h---.
Note: Regardless of the nice lady’s seniority, UAL’s travel policy was; more than 1 companion, you go to the back of the line (we had no extended family).

While I do disagree with sections of the NEW non rev policy, I think the longevity issue is a good one. Why should a retiree hired in 1960 and spent 10 years at the company go ahead of a retiree hired in 1980 who spent 25 years at the company. Date of hire for non active employees should not be a factor.

Dude,
let's NOT make it about HOURS as I have 6100+ including 2900 PIC.
and an ATP, DHC7,CV580,L188,C382 and DC9. And Even though I'm no longer ableto fly DOESN'T mean YOU have anything on me and your furghloughs are an accident of DATE! I took and passed My flight check at DENTK in 1984. So you're just plain LATE!! And that's NOT MY fault!
It IS what it IS! You could have done anything else, You chose to be a pilot and you take what comes with the job. When My Med was no longer good I did what I had to do. I don't blame YOU nor do I expect YOU to feel sorry for ME. So quit Whining and DEAL with it! You're not the ONLY one who EVER caught a bad break. And I stand BY my previous statement. BTW I Do have Jumpseat authority!! Luckily I've Never had to use it. I've got ENOUGH time In Cramped cockpits to last a lifetime! If I'm going to jumpseat It will be in a 757 or Larger..

Feel better now?
Who said anything about hours? Was that your opener so that you could flash your logbook? Well played! I'd flash mine too but I'm pretty sure neither would be germane to the topic of this thread. You're the one who chose to give us your typical load of anti pilot crap on this and previous threads. So, please excuse me for taking umbrage and offering a critical retort. Again, I am tired of taking crap from fellow employees.
OK, so you have an ATP. Big deal.
OK, so you have some PIC time. Big Deal.
OK, so you passed some type of TK flight check. Big Deal.
As far as whining, I'm not. But I am fighting to restore what has been stolen from us by management. And, I'd like to see the other employees benefit as well. But, you won't see me counseling on the CSR, F/A or MAINT forums.
Previously, you've added interesting and fact based info to this forum and I have enjoyed reading (some) your posts. But I'm not going to give anyone a free pass who comes on and gives us the finger, irrespective of how many hours they have or how many airplanes they've flown. Frankly, I am surprised (and disappointed) that I was the only one to call you out.
Sorry to hear about your medical. Truly. You're probably better off without it the way things have progressed around here.
