I thought I read somewhere speculation on next April at the earliest.

I honestly think it will be much earlier than April for off the street interviews. They have (these numbers are rounded).... 80-90 possible poolies to interview and then the remainder of the 230 they will hire before May.

I think it will happen much faster than that. They will need to get people interviewed, background checks complete and standing by for possible class dates. Off the street may be peppered in sooner rather than later.

I think they are setting in for some long term hiring.

I too have 6 recs, all internal. I'm not former Military nor am I a Chief Pilot or Check Airmen but my flight times are competitive so I'm hoping my recs can gain me an interview sooner rather than later.

It will be interesting to see how many poolies come over. Meaning that if you are at DAL, SWA, or some other good carrier is it worth the risk.

On the off the street hiring wouldn't it all be directly tied to how many L-UAL furloughees want to come over with a new JCBA.

What is the likelihood of the new contract being in place when the new hires hit the property? How hard would it be to get IAH out of class?

I expect that there will be vacancies in EWR and IAH in every class, depends on your seniority within the class.
