Where did you get this number? I ask because FO Tara Cook, EWR FO Rep stated to me (in front of a handful of other pilots../20 Nov) that the number was less.
Then the UAL MEC Rep in attendance stated 370-400 pilots needed under the New JCBA and he also stated that the company's figure was 600 pilots. Then again, after seeing the misleading info in the CrewNews, having my Reps lie to me and watching ALPA cave.. I really don't believe anything most of them say anymore~ Motch NO |

The 800 new jobs will be filled a combination of new hires and furloughed United pilots. At present Continental has gone through the entire UAL list and offered class dates at Continental. Now they can hire off the street. As long as the furloughed UAL pilots haven't said no twice, they can ask to placed in any upcoming CAL new hire class. Hope this answers your question. Jayson Baron CAL Council 170 Chairman Yes, I take everything I read here with a grain of salt. But.. when some posters at least identify themselves, that should lead to credence of their posts. So basically, from my own Union- I have heard as little as 340 pilots to as many as 800 pilots. You make the call... Motch PS> One way to look at Jayson's post vs. the NYC UAL Reps statements could be this- JCBA means an increase on the "CAL" side while a decrease on the "UAL" side, still resulting in a net increase?! |

Not sure your reasoning behind your post-
My post that you commented on was an example of the different information that I have received. Yes, I take everything I read here with a grain of salt. Question for the crowd. If the JCBA is passed, does that mean real recalls will start or does the ISL have to be completed (another ALPA screw job)??

There is nothing in the TA (that I am aware of) that mandates recalls. It appears that until SLI, Cal will continue hiring both UAL furloughees and newbies.

Great. So even though everyone is working under the same contract the furloughees still get screwed. Nice.
As far as what would happen if the TA passed to the recalls, I don't know that has been settled yet. If it has, it hasn't been disseminated that I've seen. However, I don't think this will be a large an issue as you might think. If the rumors are true, then very soon you will see a 737 base opening in IAD and SFO. That means that there will be L-CAL bases in every one of United's hubs (except SEA, where with the exception of a few voluntary furloughs, no one could touch seniority wise anyway). Therefore, recalled furloughees would be working under the same rules/pay etc. that they would be working under at L-UAL, and have a chance to bid to any domicile their seniority can hold. The only thing they would be missing until the SLI would be the ability to fly the A320 as far as I can tell. |
