I was trying to correct the misperception that the bond allocations were not predicated on a fund projected benefits. They were.

As for the retro, it is simple in nature until people see someone else get more, then they will ***** and moan like a bunch of schoolgirls saying they got screwed.

Future quotes:

" I got screwed because I am on reserve and I got less hours than a line holder making my retro less than other guys in my seat"

"I got screwed because I flew the 319, or the 757, and had I known that the 320 or 767 paid more, I would have bid those trips"

"I got screwed because the CAL guys had the ability to ratchet up pay to 100 hours a month, and I couldn't do that"

"I got screwed because a 320 copilot got more retro than me, a 757 captain"

"I got screwed because I didn't get 100% retro"

"I got screwed because I don't like the payscales they used to determine retro"

I got screwed because I am/was furloughed and I should get retro even though I wasn't on the property"

"I got screwed. Not sure why, but if must be f*in ALPA's fault"

Personally, I don't give a poop. Retro, signing bonus, whatever. I will save my I got screwed until after the ISL.

Obtuse????
Come on S.T.....That rings familiar from the defensive "empty torts" that were tossed by the "man" sitting to Schieffer's right last night. I expected better from you.....I'm certainly not here to read-minds.

I'm just very interested in hearing your plan, the "simple way of distribution" that you coined earlier???

The stage is all yours......I'm all ears & patiently waiting.

He is. There's really nothing too complicated about multiplying hours flown since the amendable date by the new pay rate.

Or, more to the point, he's supportive of pos' attempt at a money grab.

Let's expose this cockroach. Fix the stupid pay banding seniority grab too.

Paladin
I've been very involved with ALPA in the past. Maybe they could not go to MEC meeting in FLL or Hawaii. Not stay at golf resorts. It goes on and on. It's become very corrupt and ALPA has turned into the large corrupt organization it was once formed to fight.

Flap,
As far as each Ual pilot getting his fair share of the bond payment. I lost 100% of my pension too. My bond take=0.

Unless there is some hint of fairness toward junior pilots in this contract, longevity, retro, scope and not totally screwed on SLI, I and many others will be resigning from ALPA.

Attention ALPA cult followers. When I said resign, I did NOT say scab. I said resign. I can no longer voluntary support such a screwed up organization.

Pierce is costing each and every pilot on both sides thousands of dollars a month if this is true. I have most likely already lost more than I could every get back through this signing bonus. And this is during the time he was in Florida for MEC meeting (isn't there a great building with meeting room near the airport in Houston????)

Management laughs

Socal, you really do want to argue this don't you? In it's most purest form, retro
is the difference you are owed since the amendable date. I'm not talking work rules, what seat you should have been flying but chose not to for quality of life(cal guys do understand quality of life right?), b/c fund contributions, etc, but straight salary.

It would be simple if mr jeff said 100% retro for all, but he is too smart for that. Jeff is offering pennies on the dollar so we can subsidize this contract. We are being played, again.

SOTeric,

I'm afraid there is not going to be a "happy ending" to this story. You might want to ask the lady at the front desk for a refund.

You guys..your MECs included.. are in quite a pickle. There is NO WAY to divide your pot up where people are going to feel whole. It's impossible even if the company paid every hour flown at the delta in pay. Some will feel slighted in some way.

IMHO, (and I ask you ponder on this for a while before immediately flaming back), to prevent further poisoning of the two groups you all should consider that everyone gets an equal share of the total. Every one has suffered under these contracts. This includes quality of life as well as just the dollar amount of pay. One could rightly argue that the narrowbody group should get more because their works rules suffered a bigger hit than the WB group.

This also should include furloughees who return on first call after SLI. Who has given more of their salary and suffered during this merger more than those guys...or I guess just throw them under the bus...because you can? Not including them would show how...well, we would all know what it says and it wouldn't be something to be proud of.

Benefits:
-Can't be used for SLI purposes
-no long drawn out legal battles..get your money/contract quicker.
-long term is better for harmony...remember, bitterness can last forever..want to work with that until retirement? How much is that worth?
-shows a departure from the all about me culture to all about US culture and what's better for the group as a whole. Ask your self which culture is best to go forward and move on?
-Jeff doesn't get to relish in the fight.

Honestly, at the end of the day, how much difference in money are we really talking about? I've read $400M and divided up by 12k is around $33k. So someone is going to get another 10-15k while another will drop by that amount? Are you HONESTLY going to say that possibly working in a ****ed off poisoned atmosphere for the next 5-30 years is WORTH a few thousand dollars? Life is short people...time to suck it up and rethink this fight.

In it's purest form, retro is also is to tell the company that there is no payoff to rope-a-doping labor after the amenable date. In this sense, it should include all of the above because the company has been saving money on not just the pay, but on all aspects of the contract, especially on quality of life (CAL guys do understand quality of life because they haven't had it for a long time).
