Can we retitle this entire thread? Maybe call it UAL suck it, no CAL you suck it. Or we can call it (put other pilot group name here) we are going rape, staple, get DOH, career expectations etc... and make you suck it since I can control this SLI?
Back to real title, CAL system bid is coming sooner than later. 787 has caused some issues. Regardless if SLI, staffing needs to be addressed before summer.

I for one, am highly anticipating this bid. I hope I'm not disappointed.

Rumor is the UAL MEC was protesting LCAL's system bid, awarding even more CAL pilots CA, since a new contract puts us all in the same boat and should make this opportunity available to both sides (this is after all the reasoning for many yes votes). Company had to consider this but couldn't see a way to do this with no ISL and they need many positions filled for the summer so they will publish a system bid soon.
A further rumor is that the UAL MEC, having lost that battle (with precedent set to lose the same battle in the next LCAL system bid 6 months from now when ISL still may not be completed), is now pushing for a very rapid SLI so that further bids (LCAL type or otherwise) won't occur without UAL pilots in the mix.
Complete, unsubstantiated rumors.

This jives fairly closely with the latest union output regarding this issue. I believe they projected August, but also cautioned that once the arbitrators have it, there is no specific time line.
