Bother me too. But, that is what the ground crews are paid to do, not me.

I always write it up and my windshields get cleaned right away. The best part is that I am not doing someone else's job. On many occasions I had the cleaners actually thanked me for writing it up. I see that now we have mechanics cleaning windows and I was actually apologetic to the first mechanic that came up to clean the windows. He told me not to worry because the change from aircraft cleaners to mechanic for just this one item actually saved some jobs...He also reminded me of how many mechanics lost their jobs when united switched from mechanics to ramp crew for pushbacks.

It's not if you want a clean window or not! but when you start hanging your head out it now becomes a liability issue. If you get hurt the company is going to bring up company policy that you are to write it up and have the proper dept. clean them.

Can I ask someone who has seen both sides of the fence (LUAL/LCAL) if there is a difference in "culture" with the cabin crew atmosphere, working together, respect, and so on?

I can just say at LUAL it is not fun. It seems the bigger the plane the bigger the divide between the front and back.

I have flown on both sides and can honestly say that the LCAL FAs treat the pilots much better...your mileage my vary.

I will second that..

I've found everyone, front and back crew, to be very pleasant. Although I've found that the FAs think all the food in the back goes to them and we get whats left.

I've deadheaded twice now on LUAL, couldn't have been treated better by the cabin folks. They revenue pax got great service as well. Most LCAL inflight crews are great as well. An occasional miserable person, but we all have those types.
