I'm sorry, but I don't see the logic here. Every single pilot that wants to have a flying job( making more than 110 bones an hour) could be employed....the sli will be done next month or so....there will be no recall...right? You might choose to come back then, and that is your decision. To tell another man NOT to make extra coin on the heels of furloughed types is B.S. to me....do I agree with or like the staffing formula right now? Hell no! But if one can make 2800 bones or so on a turn...go for it, imho
Yep, and that's why CAL culture is different than UAL culture. UAL furloughees didn't go work for CAL because of QOL issues. Bottom reserve at CAL is NOT something most UAL pilots would accept. The cultural difference is bigger than most are willing to admit. Jay Pierce and the whole CAL SLI presentation is a perfect example. The Arbs even asked one CAL pilot several times: "Wouldn't you rather have 48 days a month off?" and the CAL pilot kept insisting he wanted the option to make more money rather than have more time off.

Sorry, Coto, I object. I know you're a refugee in a foreign land, but the reason for the windfall is due to UCH (read L-CAL) management whipaw, stupidity, and mismanagement. They're trying to fix their problem with greed. From the long perspective, you're delaying the real (only) recall.
Looks like you're going to be objecting to a LOT of furloughed UAL guys doing this then. Object all you want, but many aren't planning on returning either...........they're happy having a line, living in base, and enjoy what they're doing. Surprising, isn't it? Too many, I guess CAL isn't quite so bad after all........................

"If you are a CLE B737 Captain who does a straight pickup after the issuance of this message of a full trip pairing from open time that originates today through June 30, 2013, that pickup will be treated as a Voluntary Junior Manning (VJM) event and you will be paid at 200% of your normal hourly rate."

As I said in the originating post for this thread,And if not on reserve then during the junior 4-day trips that are modified on-the-fly, usually degrading QOL. Has happened to me twice recently.
