I didn't imply any of that but since it's important for you to try to do the job of upper management - have at it! I'm sure Jeff calls and asks your advice daily. Next time you talk to Jeff - tell him we've been out classed and managed by Delta.

"Senior Manning opportunities may be available on June 10th, for B737 Captains. If interested, call Crew Scheduling and let them know. In the event we get to the point junior manning is necessary, you will be in the first group to be called and voluntarily offered such a trip at premium pay."

It's not so much VJM as much as this is indicative of reserves being abused to the limit before they get to this point, which they are as the summer opens.
WOW. I almost feel guilty about my low time 20+ day off line this month. Almost.

If you are a B737 Captain (all bases except Guam) who does a straight pickup after the issuance of this message of a full trip pairing from open time that originates on June 12, 2013 through June 17, 2013, that pickup will be treated as a Voluntary Junior Manning (VJM) event and you will be paid at 200% of your normal hourly rate.

Keep picking it up. I'm sitting at home. 19 hours this month.

Or perhaps it's our company management that is out of whack with the competition in this business. Jeff and Co. have proven yet again that they couldn't make money with a printing press.

Remember the days when flights just got cancelled? I am on a 3 day trip with my fourth Captain. All of whom have come to the rescue at the last possible minute. Keep helping yourselves.....er, I mean the company. I don't condemn making extra bucks and improving your schedule, but shouldn't we be teaching this pathetic management a lesson on how to properly run and staff an airline?

Actually, 67% of the combined pilot group voted to do just that.... to make extra money when ever they could.

Sad part about it is, not that they are making extra.. but that it has to cost the company big bucks to keep doing this.
So.. company loses money if they cancel. Bad.
Company loses money if they pay 150 or 200%. Bad.
Question is.. which loses the company less money?

Either way, it sucks.
But at least in one way, pilots are putting money away in their bank account, and not Jeffrey's.

Just my opinion.
Motch

PS> Gonna be a hell of a Summer~
