I am a furloughed United guy flying for CAL. I accepted a junior manning trip on Monday that paid ten hours at 200% and had me gone from base for 20 hours. As all United pilots have been offered positions at CAL, I assume no one is objecting at this point to picking up a trip.

"If you are a B737 Captain (all bases except Guam) who does a straight pickup after the issuance of this message of a full trip pairing from open time that originates today through June 24, 2013, that pickup will be treated as a Voluntary Junior Manning (VJM) event and you will be paid at 200% of your normal hourly rate."

Nobody's on furlough unless they choose to be, you might as well make money well you can, I'm reserve so I can't do VJM, but if someone else can make some extra cash in my opinion more power to them....

"Senior Manning opportunities may be available on June 25th, for CLE 737 Captains. If interested, call Crew Scheduling and let them know. In the event we get to the point junior manning is necessary, you will be in the first group to be called and voluntarily offered such a trip at premium pay."

From: Cal reserve..the gift that keeps on giving
I'm sorry, but I don't see the logic here. Every single pilot that wants to have a flying job( making more than 110 bones an hour) could be employed....the sli will be done next month or so....there will be no recall...right? You might choose to come back then, and that is your decision. To tell another man NOT to make extra coin on the heels of furloughed types is B.S. to me....do I agree with or like the staffing formula right now? Hell no! But if one can make 2800 bones or so on a turn...go for it, imho
