It's in the contract. We are operating in strange circumstances. You still have two pilot groups yet we are operating under a common contract. The Company cannot shift flying back and forth between the two sides to cover shortfalls in the manning. The clock is ticking on the SLI...things are a mess. We need the list done like yesterday. Then these issues will be more clear.

But in the mean time, I choose not to pick up Premium pay. I don't know how guys find the time to do it anyways. I always wonder how guys have 110-120 hours of credit when I look at the available reserves. What I do think is in poor taste is the guys that make deals with the schedulers...like I will fly this trip tomorrow at premium pay but you have to buy my trip that I'm no longer legal for because of it. I flew with a guy from MCO that showed up on my trip deadheading in from IAH. He was one of the deal makers who had scheduling on speed dial. I thought he was a horror...but not necessarily a scab (although he did have one of those 3 digit numbers with a letter...but apparently they are not all scabs as this guy was very quick to point out).

Not sure I fully answered your question. But for full disclosure...I traded into a 27 hour 4 day this week that operates the same days as my 20 hour 4 day. I didn't give up any days off to do it, but I got an extra 7 hours of pay. The company still needs a reserve to fly my original 4 day.

Sonny...was this a faux pas on my part?

No....my post had more to do with the fact we have out of touch A-320 Capt's that have NO IDEA that we still have pilots on furlough.

Pull up the ladder I got mine......alive and well.

Sunny,
Yes it is very true I could be "very out of touch". I can see I made you "vomit". I have been gone for 4+ years. Like Pilotgolfer said; 'we are in strange times'. I did not mean to sound insensitive.
To say; a pilot who wants to better his life by trading a trip for more money or time off is a scab? We have a contract and a letter of employment to all who wants it. The seniority number is not clear at the moment.
I reserve the word SCAB for the worst out there; guys and gals who crossed the picket LINE. That is never forgotten.
I am way out of the loop; so its possible I have not all the facts. Take it easy I am flying a Bus in China.

Is that really what it takes? There are those who could have such a list and still wouldn't put their big boy pants on and follow through. Like the saying goes, "if you have to ask you wouldn't understand". Is that you?

Also, there aren't any sUAL Captains flying the 737 and being offered 200% VJM under "OUR" contract, so like it or not, this is a sCAL issue.

I am a line holder and would prefer to fly in the mid 70s for a month. I don't understand why my June line came out at 91 hours. I thought the computer had to stop loading flying on your line after it hit 84 hours...but I'm still learning.

I've enjoyed every CAL pilot I've worked with away from the training center...and most of my United buddies on the Cal side would probably echo that sentiment. But get your facts correct if you are going to spout off about the Blue side. The fact that you think the Union didnt do anything for us furloughed guys in the way of a furlough fund just demonstrates that you are going off half-cocked.
Cadetdriver and Pilotgolfer, I apologize for my misstatement! I believed this to be fact, from a double furlough UAL pilot that I flew with!! This is what I was told face to face so imagine the falsehoods stated on here!! I do not like to be part of that so my apologies for posting something not factual!! I am very happy that they took care of all the furloughed pilots, that was not the impression I took away from our conversation. From now on I will double check my stories through multiple sources before posting. Now I've have to go wash this terrible "Foot" taste out of my mouth!!

No worries.

(I just wanted to make sure any misunderstandings were nipped in the bud.)

That's my point! If there were 737 UAL capts you would see them and maybe even "you" right next to CALS!! The highlighted part above screams out "why can't I do this". If you can't follow along it's a contract not an opinion letter. I don't need your help, I'm just saying you throw that SCAB term around easily!! Were you a Full Termer? Many UAL(furloughs) guys are picking up open time on the 737, better let them know your feelings. Like I said, I like my days off and normally fly my schedule, I do trade trips though!! I'm just tired of the "Holier than thou" type that have their definitions of what is scab mentality!

My 2 cents:

Take this to the coffee shop with a $5 bill and get a cup of coffee. . . .

I work with people who made a decision almost 3 decades ago who are impacted by continuing prejudice. For me crossing a picket line is not unlike choosing Right to Life or not Right to Life. If you live next to me I'm not going to stop talking to you because you are a Right to Life believer. I will do my best to persuade you of the error of your thought, but I won't stop being your neighbor, and Heaven forbid a tornado runs through our neighborhood one day you are welcome in my bunker because we are both humans in the same society.

It's exactly like "right-to-life" or not. They chose to take the "right-to-life" of the stricker by taking away his right/ability to feed and house his family.
In other words they took the food out the mouths of the strikers family. Call it what you want but don't try to make it a noble cause. They will always be on a special list and not revered as family. Hope you have room for all of them in your bunker.

Sunvox...
Let me preface my 2 cents by saying I have concurred with the majority of your postings on this site. I must choose to disagree with you on this topic and your posting. Riddle me this. How would a person's position on a topic such as right to life have any impact on my career or my ability to provide for my family? In short, it wouldn't. These individuals you describe made decisions to benefit themselves, regardless of the effect on the concerted whole of the pilot group. Forget the company, forget the union. They turned their backs on their fellow pilots to benefit themselves. Period. There is a reason these individuals do not comprise the majority. Most have an ethical and moral compass. Some navigate life absent these tools. Your right, most of this took place many years in the past, but how many would choose the same path today? Funny that you mention a bunker. I liken these people's actions to abandoning his/her fellow combatants in that bunker/foxhole, leaving them to fight the battle and in the end boastfully wearing the same uniform. And while I, like you, would provide for that individual during the situation you mentioned, know that once the storm had passed that same ethical and moral compass that invited them in would ask them to leave. Just saying...
