No what he is talking about is the ability to "bump" into any seat at any base that your seniority can hold if you are not trained by a certain date. Many airbus and 76T FO's could bump to guppy capt or widebody FO.

(Same contract methodology that occurs when a pilot is "bumped" out of a seat due to a surplus.)

Or maybe it's a certain amt or weeks or months per the contract after the bid is published?

Hint: not necessarily.
This "vacancy" is essentially a re-bid for the earlier vacancy that "timed out." Per the pilot contract, UCH needs unfilled vacancies to assign to new-hires.
The constraint remains training capacity, not the requirement for additional bodies---which were needed yesterday. New-hires can expect essentially the same mix of fleets and bases as previously advertised.
If you don't want the A320/76T/737 in EWR don't accept a class date.

Curious though....why the sudden 737 openings in training for New Hires after we were told NO 737s till Fall due to upgrades?

I predict new hire classes from September to March will be very robust. Remember that in September 2015 the 3.5 to 1 trip rig kicks in and this is going to spur some more hiring to cover the shortfall because they will not be able to schedule us the way they do now.

Definitely not short on 737 FOs in EWR right now. 09/13 hire and to date I have 100.9 hours in the aircraft. I'm enjoying the down time at home!!

By the time they award the bids, then hire new pilots, then wait for them to finish their indoc, the training will be in the fall.
