Default LEC Election Pandering

Had somebody send me a campaign proffer from another domicile. Just wanted to get a feel for the attitude of the average line pilot and not the extremist like the author of the quoted text from the campaign proffer that follows.

"Although we are all coming together as pilots of United Air Lines, the Continental pilots’ different history and culture provide a unique and valuable perspective. The views of over **** pilots from *** must be articulated to the new MEC in a clear and concise manner. We must work together with our L-UAL brother and sisters, while advocating for Continental pilots when necessary. We have all seen the L-UAL representatives advocate for their pilots throughout the entire merger process and I fear that will not end with the combining of the MEC. A strong, rational representative voice is what you deserve and I will provide that."

Who's the dork that doesn't understand "we are now them".

BTW, is it true that the EWR rep couldn't find a leather skirt tight enough to get nominated for another term?

Those days are over. They're packing their bags.

In the next few weeks, we will hold our last MEC meeting as the CAL MEC. I ask that you not look at the CAL MEC through eyes clouded by the results of the new seniority list. I have been the chairman of the MEC since 2008 and have had the pleasure to serve with more than 35 elected representatives and hundreds of volunteers over the years....
IOW, "see ya."

You did read the above was a quote from a person running for Capt representative for a new Northeast Council? I don't know if he was one of JP's boys or not but he hasn't accepted the reality of today's United pilot makeup. Do you think he could get elected?

Yes, and he alludes to a new post-SLI MEC that will be biased towards LUAL pilots. I'm not sure I disagree with him running on that premise or whether I just think it's hopeless to think CAL will have a voice at the table. Or both. I apologize for the cynicism though. Rather, I should applaud him for being willing to enter the arena.

For the most part, the UAL MEC has done a good job of working with and accommodating the CAL MEC. I may be wrong but i don't think a UAL MEC/LEC rep has made a public comment against a CAL brother. Can the CAL side say the same? If this guy gets elected, he should be neutralized. The only thing this attitude will do is create a new divide for the company to exploit. We've seen what it got us over the past 3 years and we should turn our backs to this attitude going forward.

Biased in what way? How do you pick out 7,000+ pilots that are spread from top to bottom of the Seniority List, flying under the same contract, and treat them with bias?

More conspiracy theory...

You can't. That's why I disagree with this premise of his running.
