The system of trip trading is worthless because hey have the min reserve numbers set too high. I counted 48 FOs on reserve for the Tuesday I'm trying to trade out of. But then again, now these cork soakers won't even let us see what the min number is.

I've been experimenting with the trips listed as "potential". I tried to do a straight pickup of one of these. It will allow you to do the legality check. But after you save the request, the "potential" changes to "assigned".

I will have to report back after the next processing is done.

The potential trips depend on what the pilot is trying to do. If they are trying to just drop it or vaca drop it for nothing else you will get this trip. If they are trying to move it for another trip you won't at least not till they are able to get what they are looking for. Always worth a try however as I have them go through on occasion.

It processed over night and the other guy must have been doing a straight drop or vacation drop.

Thanks guys. Now I know it is possible for people to pick things up out of there. I'm sure no one wants my crappy trips on the weekends

Nice it worked out for you, I also use criteria quite a bit.

My biggest complaint for the trip trade syatem over the last few years is you can't see how many might be available. I know like many it gets frustrating when it looks like plenty of coverage and still no trade.

The company knows but not seeing much done about it.

That's the problem, I'm not sure the company does know. Even the crew desk can't figure it out many times.

Is it me or is the new trip trade system denying trades for no coverage a heck of a lot? Hearing stories across fleets about this. Most surprising one is on the 737 EwR FO side? Thought they were fat of FOs there. Trading shouldn't be a problem. Any intel on this? Obviously understaffing is the immediate issue but there are some fleets with booku FOs. Dropping shouldn't be a problem.

Hating most facets of the new trade system! Did get one trade in Jan. I am all for trades being granted in seniority order....not because im senior(68% in base), but im glad to not have to run for the phone or comp when i would get an open pairing alert before.

Top 3 biggest gripes with new system:

1. Min res levels apparently set very high....with no transparency. FYI for those at LUAL, we used to have a "min pool" tab. It showed the number or open trips, available rsvs, net level of rsvs...and a "min Level" of reserves for each day! Its gone....why??

2. No "mutual trade" tab. We used to be able to advertise our trips with a comment letting other traders know what we were looking for. A trade could be done very easily pilot to pilot, no emailing or contacting that person or scheds. As long as both agreed and it was legal...bam.

3. No priority between my trade requests in the new system?? ie I really want a hkg on the 6th, but what i really really want is a hkg fo seat on the 6th. No way to tell it that!!???

Yes i have filed a PDR, emailed the trip trade foks, and contacted my rep. I predict little change until the next contract...sometime after 2020....
