I don't wear one and I don't really care what a United pilot thinks. Why do you guys care so much anyways about what other people think of you? I go to work, make money and then go home.
I have fun on every trip and enjoy the job for what it is.

If you don't care about this, I am wondering why you bother posting?

There are pluses an minuses of unionized jobs. I have had a lot of jobs, but this is the only unionized one.
One of the pluses of working for a union, is it avoids the cut throat politics of most other jobs. You have a number, and that defines how high you can go.
The only time it gets cut throat, in a weird twist, is when you get involved with the union. Which is why most of us choose not too.
I stopped wearing a pin the last time the back broke off. I simply didn't request another one. It wasn't a decision, or a personal statement.
I pay my dues and expect some service for those dues. The "service" has been good sometimes, other times, not so much.
I could care less about a pin or not, but others are entitled to their opinions.
OK I have one. Scabs should not wear pins. But then again, they should not have a seniority number either.

Better re-think your statement. No, I don't have a velcro wallet, but I most certainly have velcro shoes. After a back operation I simply can't bend over to tie shoes, so I use velcro shoes and even have trouble getting those on.
I'm not looking for sympathy but your statement shows some shortsightedness.

No need to rethink it maybe just clarify. If you CHOOSE to wear this as a fashion statement and not because of your situation then it's not appropriate. This should go without saying. I apologize if I offended you but this was directed at someone like you. The ones I speak of know who they are .
