Agree, this system has taken flexibility to almost nil, no matter how senior you are. I used to BDWD all the time to improve my schedule. Now you are stuck with a 6 day off block followed by a trip and then 2 days off, and then another 2 days off after the next trip.

Can we please go back to realtime already??

Remember, the current trip trade system does not work because the company does not want it to work...

Exactly. LUAL had real-time trip trading pre-merger. It worked great. This new CCS trip trading system is terrible.

Not meant that way. The old LUAL system was first come first served and not through CCS since we didn't have CCS. This is a new system for us.

It's new to LCAL as well. It's not about CCS, it's the contract and once again we screwed ourselves. Improving the trip trade process might be at the top of my wish list on the next contract.

Next contract...I hope we accrue more than 5 hours per month for trip trading purposes.

Or at least more than 1%.

20-P-4-b If immediately prior to the first run of the trip-trading system the pay value of all Open Trips in a Category is less than one percent (1%) of the pay value of all Trips available for awarding in Monthly Schedule Preferencing for that Category, the Company shall allow enough Trip drops in that first run so that the pay value of those dropped Trips equal that difference (between one percent (1%) and the current Open Trips). The intent of this provision is to seed trip trading.

The problem with this is that if you are in a small category, say 100 pilots, that means there are probably 75 lines. So if that's 4 trips per line you have 300 trips, so if there are already 3 trips in open trading because of ALPA drops, training drops, etc then even the #1 pilot in base can't get a trip dropped because the 1% threshold is already there.

The 1% threshold is too low. It effectively allows for no trip dropping to repair PBS errors.

The first step to fixing this...publish a realistic minimum # of reserves per day based on historic data. The number should be visible and no more of this "trusting" the computer that there is "no coverage".

If you make the trip trading a viable and useable system...sick time use will drop dramatically. Maybe that's the answer...they want us burning up our sick time
