Has anyone caught a Hogan invite in their 'spam' inbox? I have a gmail account and now Google has about 873 folders they organize your mail in for you. Anyone receiving the invite with gmail have any issues? How awful would that be...

Great question. I tried to create a filter to "catch" any email but nothing yet.

So like yeah.....You REALLY don't want to do that unless you are perfectly clear and okay with never working for UAL.

Initial "welcome to the process" e-mail comes from united@airlineapps and then everything is from individual United employees after that. Nothing from United has ever gone in the spam folder.

I registered with airline apps in 2005. I used a different email at the time. The email does NOT go to your email provided on your UAL addendum, nor your main application contact info, only the email address in your user profile which is separate from your app.

So yes, I almost missed my invite. However, my OCD at checking every inbox ever saved me. Spam folder, old email address.

I received the Hogan invite on 2 Sept. The email was from a United employee not from the united@airlineapp. I was camping over the long weekend and did not see the email until Labor Day (Monday), took the test the next day (Tuesday) submitting it around 130 in the afternoon. I was incredibly fortunate to receive an invitation to interview at around 1030am Wednesday morning. The invitation was via an email from a different United employee. Hope this is useful.

Absolutely ridiculous process considering some of the gems that are passing the Hogan, slipping through the interview process and getting hired. Bring back the old Pilot Panel Board. Let 3 or 4 of us decide if we'd like to be stuck in the ol' aluminum tube for 6 plus hours with the guy.

I'm not sure what you are seeing but most are quite eager and excited to be here. Their vision of United might be somewhat skewed from the way many of us view it but that's ok. I try to remember the way I was when I was hired. I liken it to a Lab puppy. Give them a couple years and wait till they are neutered by those above and they'll settle down just fine.

Aside from that, the 3% rule will always prevail.

I am thinking 757s percentage is around 10% because of his sparkling personality - lol

As a rule, most of them are fine if not exceptional so you are correct. The ones that really stood out had no business even darkening our doorstep. As you point out so sagely, I too was an eager puppy with not a hint of arrogance and oh-so grateful to be on board. The disasters I've been saddled with recently weren't that at all. Not one sign of humbleness and unsuccessfully trying to run the show from the right seat. As I've pointed out earlier they all came from the same commuter airline and were all check airman so perhaps I'm just unlucky.
