Contract extension AIP bullet points
#281
Had a high level MEC rep stop by the flight deck a couple days ago. Regarding reserve improvements the company wanted concessions there. They wanted to be able to put reserve on call/assignment earlier than 1000 first day. The MEC said no, no concessions will be considered on this extension, so it was dropped. That's why the reserve improvement wasn't addressed in the final extension.

The reason for it not being fixed is NOT the issue here. We don't even have the language yet. The issue is that a small amount of money is apparently being thrown around and pilots that fly under the exact same contract are arguing about what someone shouldn't deem as important. That's a problem. Whether this pass or not isn't even the issue. We are displaying a brand new faction that hasn't existed before. I've been at UAL for 16 years and have never heard some of the BS being thrown around in this thread.

Now the company flashes 13% and folks want to lose their minds and canabalize subset's of the seniority list.
And if you've been here 16 years but haven't seen this same type of disagreement then you haven't been paying attention. Did you miss the LOA 25 discussion during the last contract??? There are ALWAYS these types of disagreements during contract talks. Because not everyone is going to get everything they want. Ever. That's the nature of the beast

A little dramatic wouldn't you say? Canabalize subsets of the seniority list?? No reserve concessions and the same pay raise to reserves as everyone else is "canabalization" to you?

I haven't been paying attention? I've paid more than my fair share of attention. And LOA25 directly affected me as I'm a two time furloughee. I know these "types" of arguments happen but in my time here going through everything we've been through the line holder v. reserve pilot argument is new.

My complaint isn't about the reserve system. It's for folks looking down on other pilots just for expecting more. How could you look down on another pilot just for wanting and expecting better? Not just for them but for the contract as a whole. There is nothing wrong with that.

Just keep in mind that the pilots on reserve get the exact same contract improvements as the line holders. And suffer exactly 0 consessions. So I don't see the canabalization you are talking about.
