Default What are the concessions

What are the concessions of C2012 that are in need of correcting?

What was it we had before that we do not have today as it impacts out QWL?

Not necessarily all concessions, more as compared to the rest of the industry.

Just off the top o my head.

Vacation drops used to pay 1 for 1, not this hourly pro rated/day BS.
Medical costs used to be significantly less
Reserve system was marginally better.
Training pay, sick leave and vacation pay below industry.
Trip trade is non existent.
PAY BANDS

A contract is a lot more than section 3.

It's all a $$ mix and it seems we went for cash and the ability to fly as much as we want.

If people want QOL then caps must be put on flying, but that has a cost also.

Yes those things can be improved, but at what cost? We don't live in a void.

An unexpected gain is no FSAP for not extending 30 minutes or less. It was wrong to use a safety program as a payroll tool. Also the 30 minute free extension is no longer free, but 2.5 hours of pay. This is a gain, not just for our compensation, but because it forces some actual thought into scheduling asking for an extension. If it costs them money to extend by just one minute then then it may drive some changes to pairing construction, cobbled together reserve assignments, and mid-pairing add ons/reassignments. It will probably add some internal scheduling vetting to the 30 minute extension request, forcing them to look for alternatives first.

I would liked to have seen SC/FSBs have the same type of provision. All SC/FSBs with add pay, used or not, enough that they have to put some thought into it. I was disappointed at Heppner's reasoning for dropping reserve discussions, that they were too far apart. He said they pushed away from the table twice on other issues and the company moved further to our position. Why not push away a third time on reserve improvements. For many, that was a walk away item as well.

I see what we are not getting and I agree, but what are we giving up? I don't see any current concessions to our 2012 contract. I guess the lack of additional QOL issues is the concession, thoughts...

Welcome to the Obamacare world.

My supplemental took a big jump. My premium is now helping to fund required insurance products for people who never had or couldn't afford...never mind.

you are not wrong. Look at the Extension LOA redlined v the UPA document for wording changes to FRMS. Not really concessionary, in fact in some areas improved. The automatic lookback pay for extensions is a vast improvement to current book.

This is called "wages re-distribution." It's not wealth re-distribution, it's your actual wages, that you earn today and cannot spend on your kids college bills or your family's needs. However, the liberals will attack wealth accumulation and call it a social security tax....More to follow....

Your income is now being given to those are not not paying their way in order to subsidize their costs. In this case it's their costs for health insurance. They in turn, will use this savings to pay their bills. I believe even at most liberal colleges they still call this socialism.

Elect more democrats and we will socialize more than just health-care. I would look for anyone who is in the upper brackets to be attacked by more liberals in the next election cycles. They will go after your retirements in one way or another to pay for social security. Liberals will want to save social security and pass a new "tax" on the upper 30 percent of income earners in order to save it. Not only will the higher income earners lose social security, but we will pay a new tax to save it for the lower earners.

The democrat party is no longer the working mans party. It's the special interest party. It was a special interest that attacked our healthcare model. It's the special interests that see our number one threat as carbon emissions (and not ISIS). It's the special interests that facilitate killing babies while at the same time promote saving trees. It's all a moral trade off in their minds. They won't mind coming after what we've earned and paid for with our negotiating capital in order to save their programs or pay for their special interest group's sacred cows.

Thank you for your clear spoken analysis of the party of capital re-distribution. I'm sure this will be removed by the moderator. It will be considered offensive to the enlightened and truth to the great unwashed.

Insurance costs have been rising faster than CPI before Obama took office. While Bush was in office our medical benefits were under attack at every turn.
