I was on RSV from 2004 to 2014. Every change to RSV rules prior to the UPA were made outside of sec6 by side letters and LOA's. No need to wait for a sec6 negotiation to get changes to RSV rules. If your only reason for voting no on this TA is to wait for sec6 for RSV rules, you are making a poor choice.

That's because there was no Section 6 until the UPA during that period.

WADR I think that is for the each pilot to decide for themselves.

2009 - 2012. That's was a long time in section 6. I expect nothing less this time around. So let's get paid industry leading wages while we negotiate. Makes sense to me.

Anybody know what time SC's are built and why? Is it based on Wx or is it other factors. If the Crew Desk COULD BE REQUIRED build SC lines before noon (Domicile time) and if we could get them to assign all SC's before 2pm for the next day, that would go a long way in making RSV more livable - at least for those reserves who live out of base.

Someone once told me that we are considered System reserves and not domicile reserves. So it is impossible to get any kind of consistency. For example last month I was called at 2359 for a 1200 SC last month when the weather was beautiful and the trips were well covered......THE LANGUAGE NEEDS TO BE FIXED. The crew desk is abusive and unchecked.

I totally agree that each pilot should decide what is best for their self and family...I also believe that we will not see a new contract anytime before mid 2018 if we do turn this deal down.

So that is exactly why ALPA should look into "what is the basis for building a SC for tomorrow"? If it something like "well, we have slack time after 8pm and thats when we buildem" or is it something like "we are very scientific about SC's - we build them throughout the day based on weather forecasts for the Hubs and the last forecast we get comes in at 2300 so we build after we get the last forecast". Once the reason for SC's being build become apparent, we can have our negotiating team put together a side letter that requires SC to be built by a certain time and assigned by a certain time )preferably before 2:00pm the day before the assignment. This will give the Reserve some degree of certainty in the Reserve Pilot environment which is otherwise quite uncertain. In exchange for somekind of agreement, we'll give them something that they want.

Good post and agree. Sitting SC is not the issue, its the mind boggling times they build. However, there is nothing to give them from the current RSV rules because they have already taken everything. The only thing left is the 10am restriction on DAY 1, and they just tried to take that from us.

I will be bidding reserve again in February, and I am about 50% in BES. I don't care what time they build short calls. I hope I get "abused" with a lot with SC's. Every other pilot I talk to on reserve says the same thing.

The pilots complaining about reserve are in the very very low minority. Our reserve system is fine. I would not give 1 dollar in pay rates to change it.
