I fly with quite a few FOs who were waiting for those 737s to arrive before upgrading so they could have better seniority. I imagine a lot of bypasse pilots are going to jump to the CA seat now that growth is off the table. Upgrade time probably just went from 5 years to 10.

WB FO seats are probably going to go more senior now too........grab a seat you want now or you are going to miss the boat. Well still have upward movement but at a much slower rate than we all planed.

Swap with VA Airbus ...... Alaska wants them

We're retiring about 400 pilots a year and climbing for the next few years. We're getting 14 777's. I'd say that comes close to covering the 630. I hope there's better news to come. But this news does not resemble the bullish communication from 6 months ago.

Hope it's true. Could this paint job celebrating the merger, which hasn't seen daylight yet, be a signal to their way ahead as soon as they get past the DOJ?

Double taps for us, and Alaska expanding their turf war with DAL.

I've noticed the snapshot has a ton of EWR 756 FOs bidding off, mostly to 777, but no backfill. Are we going to see secondary bids come out in the final or are we over staffed there?

Overstaffed
The bulletin had a max/min staffing as 570/542 currently vacancy page showing 545. (That takes into account all bidding off in this bid) That being said wouldn't be surprised to see some backfills on the final. Or vacancies on the next vacancy bid.

Nothing would make me happier (and I am a Chicago guy). I realize SFO is better than SEA, but I am a greedy sob and I also believe that if you have SFO and SEA, you could finally be the carrier that could own LAX!!

The SEA job market is crazy. A ton of young folks making serious cash, and a ton of growth in the entire area for both local business and business traffic. Getting Alaska now would allow us to re-enter that market on an international level, before it is lost forever!

Doubtful, the engines don't match. VA uses CFM on their buses

Every single 737 UA has is CFM.......I'm sure our mechanics can manage to figure it out.......

Don't the China birds have different engines too?

I'm not sure about the China birds. Maybe someone else can chime in about that. Just because we have CFM powered 737s doesn't mean we have parts commonality. Beyond the core, the parts are almost all different
