UPS Typical Schedule

Dude, to do that you have to have almost 2300 credit hours if you are at $220/hr. I’ll give you upper 3’s / lower 4’s for those working the system. Upper 4’s, you’re gunna have to produce the math cuz I’m calling major BS! Not like guys are sitting reserve not getting called picking up time and a half on their days off.
For those following: our guarantee is 975 hrs/year. I think 1200 is probably average for a whale or MD international FO, which factors in premiums and late arrivals.

And to hit $400K you gotta credit appx 140hrs per PP or 1820 cr per year. That’s gunna involve some crafty conflict bidding and displacement, lots of late arrival & premiums, selling back vacation (3+ weeks), getting the full sick check, and picking up JA whenever possible. And that’s using year 8? pay rate (220/hr). Show me the math, I’d love nothing more than to be proven wrong in this case.
Prospective hires, if you want a good average total gross earnings you can plan to make on an international fleet, take the hourly pay rate x 15%, 12% domestic. It’s consistently been a good approximation for me and others who don’t do much extra.

That’s an avg of 123 Cr hours per pay period. Avg line is around 78, that means each PP that person is getting 45 additional hours. Sorry, you gotta try to put up those numbers - I don’t try at all and average around 1050-1150 (premiums included & a fair amount of them at that). I looked back a few pay periods and for me to make 123cr hrs I’d have to really make out with premiums, score a late arrival and still pick up a 3-5 Day trip at time and a half to pull that off which would give me about 8 days off for the pay period. And if I didn’t make out on LaP and premiums I’m not even sure I’d be legal to do all the flying to compensate. Look, I’m not arguing it can’t be done but the average guy isn’t pulling in $350K + per year.

Before the 74 Sdf domicile, guys were taking JAs to do turns out of SDF for 27 hours a piece. Knew some guys absolutely killing it with pay for very little extra work. That’s obviously gone now and I agree, those numbers are not the norm or even close.

For those on the outside following, this was a 3 day trip out of ANC:
Day 1 DH ANC to SDF for 6hrs
Day 2 do a turn for 6 hrs cr
Day 3 Dh back to ANC
18*1.5 = 27
These were really a short lived gem that benefitted the guys who lived in SDF or those with an easy commute. Not exactly a great deal if you lived in ANC though.
During early COVID the MD had better deals especially for the guys that lived in ANC. They were getting 35 or 52 hrs for a DH to Asia and flying 1 leg back to ANC. Full trips were DH SDF to ANC to ASIA, operate back to ANC (1 leg, 2 days TAFB), the. DH SDF. 35 Cr or x 1.5 = 52hrs if on a JA.

By taking gross earnings / avg pay rate? I did regular hours + premium hours + intl override to come up with mine. Doing gross/pay rate brought me closer to 1200. If I made 84 cr and picked up a turn every pay period I’d be around the same, but that’s considering no sick check.

Guys on international fleets, who are willing to work, are not credit capped so long as the trips they pick up touch mainland China. 1600 credit hours isn’t that hard to hit. Over 2,000 would imply you have nothing to do but work. We have some people like that.

For me (I’m probably an average line holder), it’s adding about 400 Cr per year from my status quo. Knock off say 50 hrs worth of premiums from the extra flying = 350 needed. 350/13 = 27 hrs cr extra needed per pay period. This is 4-5 days at straight pay (avg 6 hrs/ day intl) or a 3 day at JA, each pay period. Not hard but not exactly easy either.
