Yes. A company needs airplanes to service a USPS contract worth Billions. Not to mention the countries/gateways that UPS scoffs at.

Perhaps. I'm a bit more concerned why the company is upgrading ANC MD11 FOs to Capt out of seniority order and without a system bid. I'm even more concerned the IPA has looked the other way.

Maybe it has something to do with flights cancelling in ANC due to a lack of capts.

Expound on that little tidbit. Thats a pretty serious allegation, I'm not saying you aren't correct but I seriously have no idea what you are talking about.

You are claiming that AFTER the bid award (the mega bid) that there are NEW captain vacancies being filled outside of seniority order in addition to those already awarded?

I just want to be clear that's what you are stating...again, please clarify.

Look at the list after the last bid in January. Look at the junior MD11 Capt in ANC then and in the current bid packet now. What happened? How did the person get there?

Ipa won't talk about it.

Is OCV the system for using vacation days at UPS? I'm just curious as to how it works? I can't find any specifics here on the forums. Fedex has an outstanding vacation program, so I'm just looking to compare the two.

Thanks for any input.

The gist of OCV is this:

If you have any two weeks of vacation in a four week pay period, you can opt into Optional Crewmember Vacation which gives you two choices:

1. Sell back your vacation @ 5hr/day, meaning you'd get 70hr of pay on top of line credit for that pay period, OR

2. Take the entire four week pay period off.

OCV allows people to bid whatever they want (or whatever they can hold) instead of whatever maximizes their vacation conflict...and overwhelmingly, people are electing to take the time off. Pilots can pick up OT or accept JAs while out on OCV so long as those trips don't fall on their awarded VAC weeks.

Beginning in 2018, there will be a one-week vacation slide option to OCV which will allow people with a single week of vacation to slide it beginning on the front of a trip or ending on the back of a trip, potentially increasing conflict and allowing any VAC days falling on a day off to pay 5hr/day instead of the current 3hr/day.

Hmmmm. The EB is stealing our $$ to line the pockets of their friends. They are allowing noncontractual upgrades and doing it somehow with consent of the company. They are keeping dirty and dark, very, very dark secrets from us. What else will be uncovered in the next few weeks? Must be an election coming up....or someone is trying to build a resume for a new career at Fox propaganda.
