I don't think that's exactly how that situation went down.

Why don't you enlighten us since you claim to be in the know.

To those in the know on this one, please keep the story, and parts of the story, off public forums.

I had a probationary FO wander in 20 min late for a flight after not answering a page or answering crew scheduling when they called. He was sleeping in the TV room and turned his phone off...didn't seem to think it was a big deal. Skeds was rolling the hot when he showed up and I turned it off.

Confirmed. Good call.

Nope.

I'm not going to air dirty laundry on a public forum, nor is it my place to provide details beyond "that's not exactly how it happened" as I wasn't involved.

Let us teach the lessons learned with newhires (as people have done in the IPA for decades now)...but let us first at least attempt to keep this thread on 2017 hiring.

Back to a few NH questions...I am very fortunate to have been offered a class date either in September or October....yes you hear it right, October!

So here are my questions:
1. Does someone know if UPS would fly a NH to SDF or is it going to be on my own?

2. What would be a typical dress code during the 8-10 weeks of training in SDF?

3. I suppose a NH is paid guaranteed hours...no per diem or anything else. Can someone confirm this?

Feel free to add in NH tips and info if you would Glad to be on board and see you soon!

1) On your own - you will probably need a car anyways, so unless you were going to buy one there I wouldn't fly.

2) Day one suit, then business casual. Polo shirt ok, no cargo pants, no camping pants that you can make into shorts (I'm laughing that they felt the need to tell me that)

3) confirmed (based on phone call and email). Your hotel is covered for the duration of training.

No other tips yet - I start Monday.
