Atlas is not home based, they have gateway travel, you are not on the payroll when positioning from home, they just buy you a ticket to get to your base. Your pay will start when you go on duty for your trip. This ticket is seen as a benefit by the IRS.

World on the other hand, has a pay only base KMCI and you are on full pay (THP, Per Diem, DH) from the moment you leave home.
To compare the two, think of World's travel from home as an online position between DFFD to LRCK. It is seen as a requirement of employment, not a benefit.

Then you'd have loved it back "in the day" when we had a guy who hit the crew bunk with a bathrobe, bunny slippers...and full commando..

Like the aloha shirt for the (now non-existent) HNL layovers and high tech long-johns for the ANC -17 degree preflights.

Jumping the gun a little on the "non-existing HNL layovers", DC8...QFA contracted airplanes are still gonna operate until the last of the three come back to us. And my understanding is that is not until at least another year, possibly longer. So, the HNL layovers will likely continue for a little while longer...

Yes they will continue from ORD but - alas - not from CVG...

True, because we (light twin guys) are now taking the SYD/MEL-bound freight that you guys are nice enough to bring from CVG to NRT...

And I appreciate it too, because now I can go back to one of my fav cities...SYD.

I pack inov8 Bare 210s and a pair of Sanuks. Both pack super-flat and weigh almost nothing. But I'm a new guy and YMMV.
