The real money for the legacies is in international flying. ONE first class $17,000 ticket is as much income as 378 Spirit passengers at $44.99 a piece. And while I would love to make United rates and United retirement, in the long run the Spirit model can't support that. Spirit won't be able to survive in 15 years if it's paying out Legacy wages to its employees simply because it doesn't have Legacy size pockets. I'm all for getting a big increase in the next contract but there has to be a level of realism to it.

HAAAAAAA. Let's look at their cost structure to provide that first class service from fancy hubs, clubs, meals, legroom, alcohol, seats one and on
We don't have those costs. And you have compared their top ticket price to our average stripped down bare fare without any add ons.
Apples and oranges.

They charge more for a ticket than we do and short of including a "free" 4oz beverage (not even the can) and two carry-ons, they charge for more "Extras" than Spirit does.
They also make more money with additional charter and cargo that we don't do.

Sorry, but this is nonsense. Our pay is just a small piece of the expenses of the airline. If you analyze the relationship you are describing a little more in debt, you will see how flawed this way of thinking is. But don't feel bad, you are not the only one who has the same false impression.
"Our business is labor intensive, with labor costs representing approximately 23.2%, 19.9% and 19.1% of our total operating costs for 2015, 2014 and 2013, respectively. As of December 31, 2015, we had 1,266 pilots, 2,075 flight attendants, 35 flight dispatchers, 499 mechanics, 517 airport agents/other and 455 employees in administrative roles for a total of 4,847 employees. As of December 31, 2015, approximately 73% of our employees were represented by four labor unions. On an average full-time equivalent basis, for the full year 2015, we had 4,326 employees, compared to 3,722 in 2014."
