I don't work for SKW, so no koolaid, just a view from outside and of course, my experience running tiny small business for a few years.
Look at GLA, look at C5, look at other similar companies, how many are lined up at their doorstep for a job..????
Look at FAPA job fair in MCO, they are paying people to attend, even it is $25.00, it is an indication of times...

What good would be some vendor who maybe the cheapest but the ability to staff the operation and perform satisfactory service is questionable???
I believe, that in the years ahead, SKW and other decent regionals, will have that as an advantage and a selling point in exchange for a higher price for services....

If you think UAL won't give flying to the lowest bidder regardless of service or past performance you're really kidding yourself. Anyone who has flown into SBA, MFR, MRY or EUG recently can vouch for that.

The majors don't care at all about quality of service. UAL just gave 30 E175s to Mesa. RAH constantly gets flying that they can't staff. Meanwhile the higher paying 'career' regionals have all gone bankrupt or are going bankrupt.

Aren't regionals paid for the numbers of departures they make ?
If so, and airline 'A' can't staff, but airline 'B' can, I could see where that'd make a strategic, economic difference....if that part about being paid for departures is even true.

What you are saying is a true pic of what happened in last decade but the next one will be a lot different.
If you read my posts again, you will see what I was trying to say..
I was referring to the ABILITY of certain carriers to provide reliable service or even just service going forward, in the years ahead.

Just because someone "gets flying", doesn't mean they will be able to staff it. Several are already having staffing issues, having to put captains in the right seat, and still canceling flights. The pay, benefits, and quality of life is now so bad at some of the regionals that even with 5 and $6000.00 signing bonuses they are having a hard time getting new hires to fill the right seat.
Management has done such a great job of lowering pay and benefits in this "profession" that there are no longer thousands of newbies out there willing or able to spend six plus figures to get a job that qualifies people for food stamps...

After spending an afternoon filling out apps, you could have over ten airlines calling within 48 hours offering interviews. If an airline isn't flexible on dates, then it's their loss. If an airline takes over two months to get back to you, you're probably already in class somewhere else.

He's not lying. If you apply to a regional and don't get an interview offer almost immediately you must have some serious disqualifying factors on your resume.

Hey guys, I am in the final stages of BRO sim training in LGB and realizing that I don't have a food cooler. I was looking at the strong bags Canadian ice and was wondering if it will fit into the cockpit closet sideways?

The sad part is there are still pilot groups making concessions on poverty level wages. This is sad indeed. Rant over!

It'll probably fit as long as it's not packed too full. My Ebags cooler fits no matter how much crap I cram in it.
