Quick math- 2nd year captain, 30 hours OE paid at FO pay. That’s roughly a $30 difference. So $900 in lost straight pay plus whatever 401k contribution. It’s going to take close to a year to get ahead with the new contract....
Hasn't it always been that way? I don't remember getting captain pay till I was the actual PIC, but thats been some time ago.

Nope, used to get it on the day you reported for OE.

The correct answer is not enough. Enjoy that extra $35 a month.

Can’t believe these guys voted yes on 0.90 cents raise
They will see absolutely no increase in their take home pay
Then and only then will they realize they should have held out for more .

I too was shocked it was a yes, and by such a large margin. I had figured 70/30 No.

That said I disagree with your math. You are claiming that this raise would be taxed at 100%. Based on single or married filed jointly tax thresholds I’d venture to say the overwhelming majority of AWA pilots are in the 22 or 24% bracket as their top. Add SS and medicare for another 8% and we are at 30-32%. I’ll give you that some live in high tax states and maybe even cities so another 5-15% for some.

So the range of the rate this raise is withheld going from the single first year FO living in a tax free state to a married topped out CA with a rich spouse living in Chicago is say 30% to 47%. So for some 1/3 is taxed and worse case less than half for others. Most in the middle of that range.

Now I get it, if the raise is only 1 dollar, does it matter much whether you keep 65 cents or 50 cents? No not really. We are only talking about $500 to 600 more a year extra. But it’s not nothing either.

My guess was 65/35 yes, though I'm not surprised it was higher based off how close the last two failed ta's were with losses and no gains at all. An FO won't see much from this financially, a few bucks here plus no min day gone. Minor gains. Captains have the most to gain. Even a year 2 upgrade at 75 hours going by the apparent fo pay till signed off still comes out ahead. Minimal gains but gains nonetheless. I'm sorry but having been through this 3 times now I don't believe voting down this one would magically produce a better ta in 3 years of negotiations. At the end of the day you got something for the next 2 years instead of the 0 you were going to get.

But it’s easier to throw an anonymous tantrum on the internet and hurl insults at people who have a different viewpoint...more gains then losses, the upgrade pay at OE is pretty crappy no doubt, but that affects you once, then you continue with your life. More incentive to pass OE in the footprint I guess.

In this economic climate why should the pilot group tolerate ANY losses??
