You might find your statement a bit shortsighted when us junior guys are out on our asses without a job and your normal lines are 60 hours of getting "offed in the a" as you say. You won't have the junior guys to blame then.

You might find your statement a bit shortsighted when us junior guys are out on our asses without a job and your normal lines are 60 hours of getting "offed in the a" as you say. You won't have the junior guys to blame then.

Not exactly true regarding Commutair. The MEC met with the company and came up with the MOU that outlines everything. The company proposed 55 hour monthly credit across the board, but it would've involved furloughing about 40% of our pilots, along with a number of concessions to our already weak CBA. The MEC countered with no concessions and a couple options on monthly credit, and way less furloughs. Unfortunately, we still had to furlough about 20% of our pilots. Overall, it could have been a lot worse considering we lost 60% of our flying.

Short term fix for a junior guy, sure, but in the long term the senior Capt who makes 60/hr more than I do shouldn't really be all that ****ed off about a 15 hour reduction per month for a few months while 3/4 of the country is out of work.
Just thoughts from myself who is a little anxious I guess.

most junior people also paid 2-3x inflation adjusted to get to where they are for 1.5x salary inflation adjusted. When I hear people like you complain about not being able to survive on 60 and being senior makes me wonder how you got so far in your life without learning how to save. Not to mention all the “senior” guys would be just as grumpy if they ended up on reserve cause everyone below them got down graded. It would really suck for those captains who thought they were senior but end up getting down graded to senior fo. They will be *****ing about that pay cut more that 75 to 60 hours

As a fairly junior person, I appreciate that everyone is currently making a sacrifice for my sake. Please try and remember though that losing a job has a huge financial impact on people, bonus or not, not to mention an emotional impact. Given the economy, maybe I'll be able to find a new job or maybe not. I have expenses and a family too...
Taking a paycut, is far more manageable for most of us than an altogether cessation of pay. Especially when our prospects of getting another job have fallen in a dramatic way.

Here we go with your ignorance again. You pretend to think you know how things work only because you would like things to have gone a different way. In reality, you would probably complain no matter what happened.
That "POS contract" was approved overwhelmingly by the rest of the pilot group. Just because you like to talk a lot, your opinion does not matter more than the rest of ours. The contract also does not govern how representation is handled. You would know that if you would actually reach out to your reps and ask them questions, instead of firing ignorant shots from behind your keyboard. I've talked to my rep continuously over the last few weeks and it sounds like the MEC was provided a lot of information and had to make a decision with that information. That is literally what they are in their positions to do. The fact that you think that this should have gone out to vote, means that you are uninformed, and then delusional if you think that we could have conducted a vote amongst the pilot group in next to no time at all.
Thanks for being a team player. All of us are in this together and you are not the only one that is going to temporarily receive less pay so that we can keep all our pilots on property.
If you think you have the solutions and out of the box thinking that will solve all of our problems, why don't you actually volunteer to help the group or apply for a management position where you can actually make some change. When this is all done, I hope we all keep our jobs and this industry flourishes again.
